Hi, here's a cut and paste of the news posted today at Mazda's world web site. From this I gather that we will see the 8 in late 2003, and my wild guess is its gona ge a 2004 model...
I am guessing because it would stand to reason that Japan will get the 8 before the rest of the world and its not going to be sold there until Spring 2003 as stated at the bottom of the thread.
( what starts with F and ends in UCK) thats right FiretrUCK lol

Mazda RX-8 to Star in Twentieth Century Fox's X-Men Sequel
Mazda Motor Corporation will team up with Twentieth Century Fox to produce the film "X-MEN2," which will premiere in both Japan and America in May 2003. "X-MEN2" is the sequel to Twentieth Century Fox's box office hit "X-MEN," released in 2000. The "RX-8" will appear in the film as Cyclops' "X-Car." Mazda and Twentieth Century Fox are working together to develop promotions to support the release.
"While the RX-8 is a genuine sports car, it also delivers the functionality of a 4 door, 4 seater. Embodying unprecedented value, it really is a 'sports car like no other.' Expect great things at next year's launch," said Masazumi Wakayama, Executive Officer, General Manager, Domestic Marketing Div.
The RX-8 is Mazda's new sports car model equipped with an all-new rotary engine, and is due to be launched in Japan next spring.
