View Full Version : Lowest paid under MSRP Poll
omahawk 09-09-2003, 10:38 AM What is the lowest under MSRP anyone has paid for a 6 speed RX-8. Base, GT, Touring, doesn't matter, just want to know how much under MSRP. I am trying to see how much further I am going to be able to work em. Also do not need to know the dealership.
Squidward 09-09-2003, 02:25 PM do you suppose some people are considering their free service + 500 offer a reduction in their purchase price?
I think so, that would explain why so a majority are showing up as $1500+ below.
Because the real majority of people actually purchased their car at MSRP or higher.
downshift 09-09-2003, 04:39 PM Those who managed or did better than 1500... care to post the dealership name? Or is this forbidden on this forum?

I paid full sticker, I spoke with sales at Ricart Mazda (not my dealer) last week and they said they are dealing and looking to move cars. They are in Columbus, OH and claim to be the world's largest Ford dealer, Their lot is like a small city. 800- DEAL-USA
rx8racer 09-09-2003, 07:11 PM I ordered mine in March at $600 under sticker. It was the first car of the year for this dealership.
Magic8 09-09-2003, 07:16 PM Got my Velocity Red 6-spd with GT package for $29,534. So I guess that's about $1,500 under MSRP, which is $31,100 I believe. I got in Dayton, OH on 9/3/03.

ZASKAR-RX8 09-10-2003, 06:08 AM In Spain the RX8 costs 38.000 euros aprox and I have ordered with a lot of accesories (strakes, rotor accents, MP3, etc.) without knowing their price, but I have negotiated a 4% discount in the final price.
That means at least 1.520 euros under the price :D
TomsterRX8 09-10-2003, 09:08 AM Could we please answer this poll ONLY for what was actually paid below MSRP and NOT include the perceived value of the maintenance program. Some of you people are pipe dreaming if you think that maintenance is going to add up to $1,500-$2,000.
Part of my decision of whether or not to sell my car back to Mazda depends upon what's happening to the MSRP of this car. Looks like many are getting really good discounts already, with the car only having been introduced for 2 months.
My theory is I can sell it back to Mazda, wait around till year-end, and buy back for as much as $3,000 off MSRP. That would assume manufacturer incentives of only about $1,000. It's possible, this number could be much higher.
Clearly, if you paid MSRP or above, and you own alternate transportation, the smart economic decision is to sell back and negotiate a MUCH better deal in the near future.

Have you gone to the Dealership and seen the prices for the RX-8 Scheduled Maintance? If you have you would see 1500+ over the 4 yrs / 50,000
Dude, most of the maintenance is simple fluid changes. Change oil and filter twice a year, replace air filter at 30 months, replace spark plugs at 30 months, and replace manual transmission oil and rear differential oil after 48 months. The rest are simple inspections. This all can be done at a Quick Lube for $400 tops. Takes about 1/10th the time to do it as well.
RX-8 2004 09-10-2003, 10:24 AM Okay dude your right .. NOT you must have not seen the prices for the RX-8 at the dealerships yet have you?/ This has been discussed in other threads here too they all say 1500 for maint. and 500 debit -- I not replying to you anymore since you have not done your homework.
You have a Great Day!!

The list I wrote is exactly from the Owner's Manual. Only a nut would take their car to the dealer for these simple maintenance procedures. Virtually everyone else would do this stuff for less than half the $1,500 you are quoting.
If you're trying to justify keeping your car then FINE......keep it and convince yourself you got a good deal. I see cars already going for more than $1,500 off MSRP after only two months on the market. I have to assume that, if I wanted, I can get a brand spanking new car with zero miles and zero rock chips in 3 or 4 months for thousands of dollars off what I paid in August. MUCH more than the value of Mazda's offer for me to keep my car.
This thread is about how much off MSRP did you actually pay for your car.
