View Full Version : Dealers around DC Metro
chopsticker 09-05-2003, 12:07 PM I'm looking to buy an RX-8 6MT w/ sporting package around the DC Metro area (give or take 100 miles. ;) ). Can anyone who has purchased an RX-8 in the area recommend a dealer or manager that'll willing to work with me to find a good deal? So far, the only place I found that offers below MSRP is Fitzgerald Mazda: $30,761 for the Velocity Red w/ RedBlack & GT with freight included (it's about $350 under MSRP). I just spoke with Koons and Gaithersburg and they were unwilling to negotiate the price.
rx8daniel 09-05-2003, 12:17 PM got mine from Fitzgerald in Frederick; like them - paid sticker - of course I ordered it 2 years ago... Mike also got his here and lives in Greencastle as I do which is 45 miles away, and about 20 miles past another Mazda dealer in Hagerstown that is between here and there. That they sell most of their cars under MSRP is one reason I may go with the buyback program... one of many factors.

TreknMazda 09-05-2003, 02:05 PM My preorder came from Browns Alexandria. Looked at their website yesterday and four RX-8 s are listed. They have various options added, but the price is less than MRSP.

I got my deal on my RX-8 there!
chopsticker 09-08-2003, 10:28 AM I got the lowest price from Preston but they didn't have the exact Rx-8 I wanted so I went with Darcar of College Park. Both gave me prices that were more than $1.4k (not $2k. oops) under MSRP. :-D I got a Velocity Red with GT and Rotary Accents for $29800 + $100 handling fee (they wouldn't budge on the handling fee) and I was offered $29700 + taxes + tags at Preston. Karen was a joy to talk to.

are you kidding me?????
*rushes off to search for RX-8s and gets car loan ready*
MrWolf 09-08-2003, 02:02 PM Geez, who'd ya talk to at Darcars? I've test-driven with them and called them a couple of times, and they absolutely wouldn't budge on MSRP...
chopsticker 09-08-2003, 02:14 PM I talked directly to either the fleet manager or the internet manager. Since the salesmen are paid to give you the run around and pretty much doesn't have any say when it comes to bringing the RX-8 below MSRP, the manager is your best bet.
ZoomZoomH 09-08-2003, 02:18 PM got the name of the internet mgr so i can make some calls?
chopsticker 09-08-2003, 02:33 PM The Darcars in College Park is out of RX-8s, the only one they have is mine. :) Call up Preston and ask for Karen, she'll definitely give you the best deal. But I would call up a few other local dealers first and see if you can find prices around $30k before approaching her. I have a list of all the dealers I called at home. I'll post that as soon as I get home. The ones that weren't willing to haggle were the ones in Gaithersburg.
alphaman60 09-10-2003, 02:58 AM Chopstick?
When you contacted Fitzgerald in Annapolis, did you contact their internet sales person? I was able to get my RX-8 for $1000 over factory invoice. They didn't have the color and options I wanted. So, they modified the options on one of their incoming cars for me. I should have my car by the end of the month. The sales rep (Jacqueline Gwyer ) did say this deal was only good through labor day weekend. However, it's probably worth a try now.
chopsticker 09-10-2003, 04:44 PM I tried calling their Internet Sales Manager but all of them were out last week on some sort of training program... I needed the car last week so I couldn't really wait for delivery. :-\ No biggie, I found another one for $1.4k under MSRP, which is about $2k over invoice right? So it's not such a bad deal...
Babbler100 09-18-2003, 09:41 AM I guess there is more than one Fitzgerald Mazda in the area. I went to the one in Frederick. They seem to pride themselves on selling at MSRP. I guess this is a good thing however they just gave me a bad deal everywhere else to make up for it.
I have a good credit rating and they only offered me 6.9% and for 72 months at that! Hell, my credit cards have a lower interest rate on them! They also gave me a very insulting offer on my trade-in. I have not really started negotiating with them yet, but that first offer just made me angry esp as they are trying to sell me a car with more options than I want in my second choice color. They also told me that the color and options I wanted are not available within a 100 mile area. However, when I search dealer inventory I come up with several.
Is there a Fitzgeralds in Annapolis? Is this the one willing to sell below MSRP?
