The other day the oil light came on during a spirited run on the highway (90 mph), and then went off when I immediately backed off the gas. I checked the oil and it was only 1/4 way down from the top mark. I added some to bring it up full.

Then last night the same thing happened. Took it up to about 90 and it came on again until I backed off.

Now I know about the baffle thing in the oilpan, but don't know if my VIN if affected. The question I have is why doesn't the oil light come on during hard cornering or acceleration if its the baffle thing? There are several places on my route where I make a turn from an intersection and straight up hill, but no light then.

Mine did the same thing all 400 miles of my drive to Asheville, NC yesterday. Going UP hills, it turned on, and down hills, off. Not the entire way, but it probably came on 6 times. I *know* my oil is fine, because I checked it before we left and it wasn't even 1/4 of the way down the dipstick. I'm assuming it's the oil baffle problem too, (described in this thread (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8458)) and while I'm going to go buy some oil today and put it in just to top it off, it's going to go visit the Mazda dealer when I get home next week.
