One thing that would spoil the Rx-8 in my opinion would be to have a radio aerial sticking up. The radio aerial should be in the rear window heater strips like many other new cars. I don't know if this impairs quality but all the cars I have been in with this type of aerial have sounded fine.

What do you think?

Totally agree. I love my radio antenna integrated in the rear windshield. All cars should have it.

I have a similar type of antenna in my Millenia and am pleased with the reception. I agree that the antenna should not be visible, as that is a thing of the past.

The imbedded-in-glass antenna's aren't quite as good as a regular antenna, but they aren't bad.
They make windsheild replacement very expensive though!
If the 8 doesn't come with the antenna in the glass, a good alternative would be the type that extends upward and reward from the A-pillar.
Short stubby antennas on the roof look good on sport sedans, but I think they would look out of place on the 8.

hmm no antenna in the glass and as far as i can tell no one wants a metal shaft sticking out of the 8, but i say screw it for this car i'll buy cd's

Used to have an oldsmobile that had the antenna that was a wire embedded in the windshield.....got crappy reception.

Now, I have an Accord with the rear window defogger type antenna. I get VERY good reception with that. I personally hope it's this type in the RX-8.

What do you think about an XM option?

My dad's subaru forester has a window aerial and gets great reception but its not really in the rear window its in the two side rear ones so maybe thats why it gets good reception.

The antenna IS in the rear window glass for the standard (Bose) system. A different externa antenna will most likely be required for Satellite Radio.
