View Full Version : 100,00km engin swap?
HELAS 11-17-2006, 08:42 PM ok. so i was at the dealership today getting my 48,000 km service and my recall done. and i rented a car from the "enterprise rent a car" in the plaza that mazda had arranged for me. the guy there was telling me that he had recentley had 4 customers come in and rent cars because their rotary engines were being replaced at 100,000km (at the owners expense) WTF? is there any truth to this rumor? or was the guy just f*cking with my head? i thought it was pretty absurd to tell you the truth. any insite?
:Eyecrazy:
-=drift=- 11-18-2006, 10:18 AM I doubt it. the renesis has been quoted as being the longest lasting rotary yet, with a life cycle of 200k miles. would roughly equate to 320 Klicks.
FlyLow 11-18-2006, 10:28 AM I haven't heard of anyone around here having an engine replaced. But after I had the recall done the car developed a flat spot between 3 and 5k in second through 6 gear have you noticed anything
HELAS 11-19-2006, 01:27 PM i havent knoticed anything yet. i'll let you know
rotten42 11-19-2006, 03:44 PM two engines replaced before 40k...I'm not so optimistic.
HELAS 11-20-2006, 10:05 AM you have had to swap your engine twice already?
rotten42 11-20-2006, 03:14 PM Yup....
I'm on my 3rd engine
3 sets of brak pads
2 air bag sensors
both seat warmers
and shit load of other stuff and I am at the dealer right now because I am smelling a fuel leak while I drive.
I love this car...but with all this happening Its gone when the lease is up.
rotten42 11-20-2006, 04:13 PM turns out the is a gas leak from the "o ring" around one of the injectors.
At least the dealer has been nice and gave me the CX7 to drive again. Me and that CX7 and becoming good friends.
YT1300 11-20-2006, 04:25 PM 100K kms? Sounds fishy.
Still, I'll need about ten years or so, at this rate, to get the engine replacement problem.
ZoomZoomH 11-20-2006, 04:30 PM i'm 2/3 way to that mark... 46k miles in 2 years, only 1 more year to go!
ZoomZoomH 11-20-2006, 04:30 PM still on original engine btw, running stronger than ever!!!
army_rx8 11-20-2006, 04:56 PM ^hehe my original engine was running strong......but they said i was getting a new one b/c it failed the engine tests they did....and the new one feels the same as the old...lol oh well new engine for me :)
HELAS 11-23-2006, 10:00 AM THIS IS CRAZY! tell me no one paied for the swap? I cant belaive that people are actually having their engines replaced.
KhanMotorsport 11-23-2006, 10:11 AM what does mazda want for A core swap @ full MSRP? like 8G's?
70,000 K and going strong . :)
HELAS 11-25-2006, 04:14 PM wow pete, your racking them up eah? :D: im JUST about to turn over to 50,000
