I'm no expert by any means here but I'd say in a full mile it'll come down to raw HP and weight. 3,766 curb weight w/340 HP and 390 ft lb vs say 238 HP and 160 ft lbs at 3,045 lbs? You might lose but you might beat him in the quarter at least. Course if it were just the 3.5 you'd smoke him in a heartbeat.

I like that spirit, but there are others who have already done quarter mile runs. Check out dragtimes.com for both RX-8 and 300C 5.7L. You'll see that the stock 300C time spread is a notch or two faster than the RX-8 spread and the trap speed for 300C is markedly higher for similar times.

I don't think it takes much skill to drag an automatic 300C and the RX-8 is not that easy for a novice to launch correctly.

I'd save the effort.

If you can barely walk away from one of those daytona trucks, your car has issues, especially since you are turbo. And the 300C's are not all that fast, they usually run in the lower 14s.. soo it shouldnt be that bad.

Don't worry I had a chance against the new dodge charger with the hemi in it and let me tell you that at low rpm not a chance the charger just jump like a rocket in front of me BUT when the 8 went high in rpm let tell you again that I reached him really quickly and I think all of this was around in mile or so... :bootyshak

Don't race him, mostly for safety reasons, but also because in a mile race, that car is gonna pick up so much steam he'll pull you pretty good. All he has to do is hold down that gas pedal, and it's all over no matter how good you shift or launch. It's both dangerous and embarassing, so let it go.

mine runs low 13's, i guess the truck was lightly modded.

yes, 3 or 4 90 deg turns, a couple of sweepers and a u-turn.

And make sure the straights are very short. don't want that hemi to pick up too much speed between the turns.

I was on the highway a while ago and downshifted into third and floored it at about 65-70 and moved into the center lane to pass a slow driver in the fast lane. A mean looking black charger was behind me in the center lane. He accelerated, moved into the far right lane and blew by me like I was standing still. All I saw was an R/T badge and taillights. He tried to bait me into a race, but I wisely declined. Simply put, U will get PWNED.

Yeah, I forgot about the Durango with the 5.8 Hemi. They may be the only ones that are slower. I couldn't pull away from a two door Hemi Ram with exhaust. I've got a drop in filter and Greddy exhaust. He may have had an intake and/or flash tune as well though. They are all still boats that will capsize if you corner too fast (non SRT). Those SRT guys are some crazy mofo's though. I wish Mazda had the balls that they do! SRT8 Grand Cherokee 0-60 under 5s and pulls .9 g's. Nucking Futs! :Eyecrazy:

A neighbour/fellow motorcyclist has a 300 Hemi with the AWD, a company car for him...nice! He and I take the same empty country roads into work each day so we often encounter eachother. We're usually pretty even, it's more about whoever gets the jump. That said, he'd probably pull away if we didn't run out of road, or if it was a RWD Hemi he'd have an easier time of it.

Anything with curves though, he slows right down.
