Where do I go online to find out about smog inspections, I'll be looking at mid eastern IN so need a reccomendation for a reputable dealer in that area. Does IN require double plates on their vehicles? What is an 8 like driving in the snow?

Winter tires are mandatory if you drive it in the snow, other than that, it drives just fine. Another thing I usually do is put a bag of sand in the back and it helps a little with keeping your ass planted in the snow.

I have to disagree. All season tires will get you through the winter. I use them up here. Don't go wide, stick to OEM size. They cut through the snow better. The 8 works fine in the snow.
Indiana is a rear plate state.
Sorry, I'm too far north to help with a dealer. My brother lives in Indianapolis. I could ask him, but there are others here with more experience.

^ What he said, if you have all season tires no need to bother with winter ones, but if you're still on the stock tires you might want to look into winter or all season tires.

I'm actually moving to the east side of Indy in 2 weeks. Rear plate state. Just be prepared, you'll pay a tax on what your car is worth when you get your plates. Missouri has a personal property tax, Indiana does it differently. Other than that, that is all I know so far.

*As others have already stated - no worry about any sort of inspections - state did away with those years ago....

* I've got a dealer list (thanks to cooperative effort with Mazda USA) but not right in front of me...but can have that to you tomorrow (can you PM a city location so I can narrow it down for you?)

* again, as others have already stated - just rear plate (taxes are another story, but having lived here all my driving life, I dont know any better LOL) I do believe you are expected to get your drivers liscense/plates changed over within 30 days of the move...etc....

* I just had one good snow driving experience and it was on the factory tires, WHICH I no longer have - I have all season now...but outside of getting slush-o-plained (see story on another post) it wasnt bad - slow going but didnt get stuck anywhere -- I plan on NOT driving in snow as much as possible this year (sorry, just that slush deal kinda took it out of me) But from what I've read from others in snowy states, snow tires, all-weather etc.. seem to work just fine depending on preference :) But I do know donuts ARE a lot of fun :naughty:
