As we already had discussed, we're going to cruisy down to Phillip Island on Saturday 16th of December! On that day we get to meet Julia!!

This will be our last cruise for 2006 so lets make it an awesome one!! (we'll kick off 2007 with the GOR ;))

I've suggested we are there by lunchtime say about 12ish.

I havent been to Phillip Island for many years, so I'm not aware of where to go and what to do etc, so If anyone could make suggestions of where to go in Phillip Island and the route we'll take to get there (sth gippy hwy??)- I'd really appreciate it :angel:

Meetup point will be in South East, somewhere near FWY entrance, so let me look into that.

Am allocating about 1.5hour drive, so we probably leave say about 10am or so ??

Just for time being lets brainstorm a bit as to where to go in Phillip Island to meet up with Julia also.

It's a circuit sprint run by the Alfa Romeo Club of Vic. All clubs are invited but the last year the lions share of entries were Alfas.

Should be a good day as long as it's not too hot!

Hmmm, Well this guy (who has been know to visit here occasionally - DavidM) drives a 350z.

At this stage we are looking like staying the night so we will definately come to the track and cheer you on :)

My wife needs time on the weekend to finalise pre-sentence reports for court on Monday the 18th, which is my son Matthew's 9th birthday. :)

I have convinced her to have his birthday party on the 17th instead of the 16th and I will take the boys out for the day on the 16th so she can have the day at home by herself to work. (What a shifty bastard I am) :Freak_ani

So it looks like I will hooking up the PS2 in the back seat to keep the boys occupied on the drive to Phillip Island. Is anyone else bringing their kids along?

we always have good turn outs..... williamstown cruise had 15.... photoshoot at docklands had 18, (2 didnt show up, so would have been 20, and if few others had able to come would have been 21-22 easy)

For those that stay for the Sunday I make a solemn promise to drive the car like it's stolen and give the spectators some value!

Car is getting a facelift of the engine kind and so am looking forward to getting it out on the track...

Looking forward to razzing some of the Victorians up. Last year they were too scared to get out on the track with me!!! I not so scary really....just fast and take no prisoners...

BTW the museum is really good...we did it last year and I really enjoyed it...there's also boat cruisey stuff.

There are some great places to eat...and also there is the historic PI circuit that's now roads....we drove it last year and still found some faint markers of the track etc. Lots of history over there.

I am bringing my camera to take photos, can't promise they will be any good though.

I'm searching for a decent meeting spot to fit the amount of cars we have. So anyone else want to come??

Spoke to MACCAA yesterday and he's definitely coming too, so I'll have a co-driver to ease the long haul down and back.

Our plan is to leave early Friday morning and get to Melbourne hopefully by mid-late afternoon. We'll overnight in Melbourne and meet up with you guys in the morning for the cruise (although I may be open to Friday night shenanigans after I've had a rest :cwm27: ).

We'll come back to Melbourne on Saturday after the cruise to knock some of the travel time off the return journey to Sydney. I'm thinking of an alpine route for the return to escape the boredom of the Hume but I'll need to discuss that with my erstwhile co-pilot.

I'll let you know where we're staying as soon as I've worked that out as we'll probably need some guidance to the meet-up point (don't think my pocket Gregory's covers Melbourne! :hahano: ).

Subject to the Vics extending their kind invitation, we're happy to have some company from other NSW people who are dumb enough to think this is a good idea. :mdrmed:

New guy here. I'd love to come on the PI cruise now. I've been waiting on the go ahead from my friends. I have some friends coming from the UK so it will be a good way of going to see the penguins. They don't yet know it's an RX-8 cruise, just that it is a car club cruise. They'll be surprised.

for once in my life I am packing early so we can get an early start Thursday morning.

Had a lovely day at work today...went out for lunch ...then got the car dynoed and then took the boss to the airport. He's always a bit nervous driving with me now as I took him round a corner a might bit fast making him grab for the F8%k handles and go very pale....we made it to the airport with him commenting on how relatively slow I went round corners!!! :rofl:

Looking so forward to meeting you all, and seeing some modded 8's and many 8's in one place for that matter...this will be my first big group of 8's! You guys are awesome! Did think of driving mine over as well....but decided to leave him at home....will do so when the train is back up and taking cars though! Well the Alfa has been tuned within an inch of it's life.....we are starting to pack and I can't wait to leave work today!

We are going the back way as there are apparently a lot of police around Stahl and Arrarat.... :Freak_ani we will be fair game for sure. So going the back way through the southern grampians and up to Dunkeld etc. Staying in Melbourne Thursday night and then off to PI on the Friday arvo.

Anyone know how long it takes to get to Sorrento from PI? The last ferry to Queenscliff is at 6PM. It'd save the long haul back around the bay - no biggy if we have to drive back tho.

BTW after all the elbow grease yesterday, I got home from work this arvo and did the usual quick lap of the car to check for seagull bombs (this carpark is notorious). Bugger me!!! Looked like a bunch of the b#stards had lined up along the left hand side to admire their bums in the nice shiny black paint - AND THEN MACHINEGUNNED IT. Geez the neighbours got an earful of "colourful Aussie lingo" and my 2 laboradors even skulked back from their welcoming position at the gate!!!
Anyway it's clean again now, but I'm working at this site again tomorrow. Anyone got a gun I can borrow?? Payback's a bitch..............

Talk about timing with the Sorrento ferry - we made it bang on 6 o'clock!! We drove on, the door closed behind us and the ferry was moving before we even got out of the car...........

Honestly it is spending time with you guys that has me seriously thinking about spending the money and buying another 8 again. It makes no financial sense at all and to trade Tubby would be a hard thing to do but it has an appeal that's hard to resist.

Everytime you guys make us feel so very welcome and more than just part of the group... Especially for the provisions to include us in OZ Renesis. I just hope such provisions do not cause you future problems with all you want the club to be!

A better group of people to call my friends I doubt I could meet!

Maybe a tag line for OZ Renesis logo could be something along the lines:

'It's not just the car, it's the people'
