Anyone ever have trouble opening one or both of the rear doors? For no apparent reason, my rear driver's side door will not open. It's latched shut and I can't figure out why. I tried playing with the seatbelts to make sure they didn't trip the lock system, but to no avail.

Any advice?

never had mine stuck before but be sure the belt is not looped in there.also check and be sure that it is completly closed first then try to open it again.mazda made a pretty good door assembly and i have not heard of any problems yet!good luck(two years and 34,500 miles and running! :ylsuper:

So then we conclude that there must be a malfunction in my belt tensioner? I made sure the belt was retracted all the way and not caught on anything. Time to call the dealership I guess. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

press the dorr button switch. does it make a click when you push it in or not? if not the pin could be getting stuck.

After a trip to the dealership it turned out that the cable that pulls the latch was disconnected. Possibly the result of vibrations from driving on really bad roads?
