I was thinking, what if I took my renesis rotors to a machine shop and have them mil out the part where the apex seals sit in deeper so I can fit 3rd gen's apex seals and use solid corner seals. anyone think that would be a good idea?

No.do you have anything to back that up? it can be done, but be sure you know what you're doing, as the machine shop will just mill to your specs.

well i have a buddy who has a 93 rx7. he's pretty bad ass. he built and can tune his 3rd gen. his car is feels like it's faster than the hyper sonic at kings dominion. anyway, he says it can be done. we were talkin bout if there is any upgarede seals for the renesis and i havent seen any. so i figure i will just use 3rd gen's seals. u know there a bit longer from top to bottom.

You're downgrading your seals, just use the stock seals and if you're turbocharging, tell him to tune it for you if hes that good, stock motor can support A LOT of HP without detonation.

well i've heard of renensis goin over 400hp. just wonderin if anyone got over 500 with some engine mods

I rememeber the puerto ricans saying one with over 400 and one with over 500 but no proof and no other statements about it so who knows. If that is possible my guess is it had some kind of lower compression rotors jimmied into it. Im not sure if the claim is true but who knows. My guess is the 8 will eventually reach those levels. People used to say 400 was the limit on the 7. Where there is a will, theres a way.

Just thinking for all the money you spend to do this, wouldn't it just be better to spend a whole lot less on a set of Ianetti RX8 ceramic Apex seals ?

The deeper grooved renesis rotors are definitetly a plus but very difficult for even skilled machine shops to achieve. PM me and I will reveal all the answers to the questions you have asked. :)

Why do you say that? I respond to PM's all the time. Have you sent me one before that I apparently missed?

Many shops that do machine work make the assumption that all of the apex seal grooves are in the exact same location all the way around. They set up a jig for it to hold each rotor face in the exact same position and all they do is rotate it. You can't do this. You need to mount a rotor for the cut but then measure each one individually to make sure you are centered with the groove. They do not always line up exactly the same even though they are very close. Yes it matters. Most don't know this.
