New engine warranty

Exciting news for rx7 & 8 owners , we have decided to offer a warranty on motors. After 14yrs of building motors this is something I'm proud to offer you as customers. Here are the details of the warranty.
$399.00 down and $69.00 a month or 1 year payment of $1227.00 will cover the motor for first year unlimited miles. After the first year it will be $828.00 a year or 69.00 a month to have a full motor warranty on your car. Keep in mind the average cost of a motor rebuilt plus labor is around $4500-$5000
After the first yr the coverage will just be $69 a month, which is $828 a yr.
This warranty will cover all internal parts of the motor, plus labor to remove and install motor to original removal.
With the warranty we will also tune the car for free for the 1st yr of warranty, we will have a team of are top mechanic traveling the country to inspect the cars and make recommendation on other options modifications and upgrades to make sure everything is working correctly.
The goal is to make this cars reliable as possible and take the worry out of the customers of worrying in the motor will blow.
The warranty does not cover turbos and other external parts of the motor.
Warranty does not cover shipping of motor or car to are shop. I will post more details of the warranty later, let me know what you guys think about it.

I don't understand why you you guy's don't do this warranty for your motor. I get so many calls about motor rebuilds with this car now, the warranty alone is worth it.

Maybe have some members who have used your services post up some testimonials? I have never heard of your company.

Also, if the motor needs new irons and housings will you replace them with new ones or used parts? And if you get a replacement under warranty then can you keep paying to maintain a warranty on that motor?

Plus you can get a decent stock style rebuild for $2500.00 or so from a reputable builder and most shops charge about $1,000.00 in labor to swap so I'm not sure where you are getting $4500.00-$5,000.00. I paid less than that for my ported motor built for FI with a few extras from Pineapple Racing.

pdxhak 06-06-2012 04:14 PM

Who will be building the motors? What is their experience with the Renesis? Long block? Short block? You say internal parts only. What if the housing get tore up. Are they included?

alnielsen 06-06-2012 05:07 PM

I'll ask around at Mid-O this weekend. There should be a couple of Ohio rotary people there.

nycgps 06-06-2012 07:14 PM

let me get this straight.

to get this "warranty", first I need to pay 1227 on the first year, then 828 each year afterwards.

First year is unlimited miles, but what about 2nd year and X year after ?

so that means the first 2 years the buyer will have to pay about 2K for "warranty?"

and this is just the "engine internal" warranty only, labor to remove/install cost extra.

Average cost of the engine is 4-5K? a very good build with ported engine with HD seals cost around that. Mazda reman cost about 2.5K. I can do it myself for a bit less. As I just recently did it for my FC. MSP is not that much different (so do all previous rotary engines) so it shouldn't be too difficult.

no offense here but it does not sound like a very good deal.

and do you guys have anything to "back" your claims? existing customers? some pictures would be nice.

Cool, thanks for the introduction. I wasn't aware the rx7store was big on rebuilding the Renesis. So what is your experience with the Renesis? How many have your rebuilt and for whom? Any rebuilds for any rx8club members done yet? Any Renesis builds for any race teams? Also, please answer the question pdxhak and I asked.

check out our Facebook page for pics and video, znperformance.
The motor does cover everything on the block, you would only put down the down payment and pay the monthly fee.

ShellDude 06-06-2012 10:08 PM

while you call out that your warranty doesn't include the turbo, do you warranty renesis engines that are equipped with one?

znperformance 06-06-2012 10:19 PM

I will be building all motors along with my staff, housing will be cover with the warranty, I have been working on the rx8 since they came out, lots of turbo installs and rebuilts.

ShellDude 06-06-2012 10:23 PM

So if I have a turbo and I crater my renny you'll replace it no questions asked?

If someone has a turbo I would warranty it only if the tune on the car was verify by me and I would make the recommended suggestion on the set up so the customer can enjoy the car and not have to worry about it blowing up.

ShellDude 06-06-2012 10:33 PM

I dunno man... I really do appreciate the service you're trying to offer but it just seems like there are so many different scenarios that could play out that it makes for a very hard pill to swallow.

For example, how could you ever verify, or tweak, an MM AP map?

pdxhak 06-06-2012 10:40 PM

^What ShellDude is saying his MM map is locked so you cannot really review his tune to verify it.

ShellDude 06-06-2012 10:45 PM

He could certainly review my Adaptronic map with WARI and even make adjustments... but the underlying base MM AP tune with CEL suppression and speed limiter inhibit would be impossible to verify.

And I'm in a very small minority. 99.9% of Jeff's tunes are soup to nuts.

pdxhak 06-06-2012 10:49 PM

I thought no one could look at the values? Are MM's maps read only?

ShellDude 06-06-2012 10:54 PM

No, they're locked ... not even viewable. Been that way since Cobb fixed the encryption stuff quite a few years back when they were still supporting the platform.

The Adaptronic map is 100% open and so easy to read that even I can maintain it... lol ... another potential gotcha. The customer could tweak their map, crater their motor, and just reflash the "approved" one. Granted... very deceptive and unethical, but I guarantee you there are people out there that wouldn't hesitate to do it.

Beyond that I am struggling to find other scenarios that would come into play. zn is suggesting that his service provides for personal visits by him or his staff. That is a very interesting carrot to dangle...

pdxhak 06-06-2012 10:56 PM

OK that is what I thought.

coolx7 06-06-2012 11:10 PM

i dont think they would have enough staff to make personal visits , let alone travel around the world to specific places. i mean sounds great and all but really if i had to crate the motor just to send it out to get it fixed by them id rather do the rest myself if i have to pull the motor to send it out jeez.

znperformance 06-07-2012 09:28 AM

We Travel a lot now for tuning and we do service out of the country. I hate company that hide maps from the customers. I don't understand what is the big secret its Timing and fuel, you can see the cobb map.

Just to clarify here is how it works
1.$399 down
2.$69 dollars a month
3. covers motor and labor of removal and install
4. what's not cover is shipping the car or motor to us
5. Our goal is to support the rx8 like no other company has, we are excite to be able to offer this to the community. I know this will work because I have been building these engines and tuning them for 15yrs plus.
