World of Warcraft Frye's Meet! Monday 11/22

I just want to get my copy so that I can start my character ASAP!

Come on Q/Kari.. you know you have to go!!!

================================================== ======
World of Warcraft Midnight Store Signing
Come meet the developers of World of Warcraft at the Fry's Electronics store in Fountain Valley, CA on Tuesday, November 23. Starting on Tuesday morning at 12:00 AM PST, Fry's Electronics will open its doors to local gamers and give them the chance to be among the first to purchase a copy of the game and meet the developers in person.

The festivities will begin at 10:30 PM on Monday night, and the line to enter the store will be cut off at 1:00 AM, so be sure to get there early. We will be raffling away Blizzard recommended NVIDIA BFG GeForce 6800 video cards and backpacks, lift tickets to Bear Mountain ski resort, as well as a complete Alienware Area 51 computer. Local radio station, KROQ, will also be there to play music at the event, and food and beverages will be available.

If you'd like to attend, please be sure to visit:

Kari doesn't want to go. She mad about world of warcraft for some reason.

Outlaws eXtreme 11-22-2004 05:24 PM

Tell her to show up so she can state her grievances with the developers in person. I am going to tell them that the game should be 1.99 a month, not 15.99

mrtux 11-23-2004 02:44 AM

15.99???

Outlaws eXtreme 11-23-2004 03:31 AM

Just got back from the biggest pile of crap there was... over 8k+ people at least showed up. I was at least 3k more to go... around 1am, the line barely moved. I'll wait until 8am this morning to pick up the game.. it's NOT that important to get into the game that early. Blah.

I did see 4 Silver RX-8s, 1 Yellow on the street, 2 Black, and 1 Red. All of which none of the owners flashed/waved etc etc... oh wells.

Icemastr 11-23-2004 12:28 PM

I got there at 10:30. The line was just ridiculous, I knew there was no way I would even get 1/4 of the way in so I just left.

Yah, $15.99/month??? That's a pretty huge monthly committment for a game. Hehe, I liked the good old days where Warcraft/Starcraft/Diablo were free.

Outlaws eXtreme 11-23-2004 01:25 PM

I paid 12.99 for UO and 14 bucks for COH/SWG so.. it's not really unheard of. Too bad you can't sell the WOW stuff per the agreement.

Kari 11-23-2004 03:26 PM

Its only like 13.99/month or something if you get 3 months in advance.

Warcraft/Starcraft/Diablo are still free. World of Warcraft uses up TONS more bandwidth and hardware than those previous games. Battle.net before was just a matchmaking utility, in Diablo II characters were stored on the servers but that didn't use up too much space or bandwidth. The costs of the bandwidth for all the servers for WOW alone will be very expensive. I wouldn't doubt in the millions per month with how many people will play.

Go buy HL2 and play Counter Strike Source as much as you want for $0 a month. The way I see it, you shouldn't have to buy the game and then pay monthly too. Pick one or the other damn it.

If they let us sell our items on Ebay, then let them charge us whatever fees it is. When I was going to school, I made around 1500-2000 on my spare time playing Ultima Online. Look at the items for sale now... some swords still going for 200-300. Castles around 600.

Purchased by 8:00am, hacked with cheats by noon. :D

mrtux 11-24-2004 02:13 AM

they should give the game for free if you pre-pay for 6months or a year worth of online play.

Problem is, people will pay regardless and that's why game houses like EA continue to expand.

I never could get into those RTS/RPG games.... too slow and boring.

"Let me sit and charge my karma" or "Let me build this city so that some fool will come and bomb it after the all this time"

bah, run and gun please. I'm playing CS:S right now.. waiting on some mods for the HL2.
