Where to get a helmet in San Diego

I want to take my car to a track day and they require an SA rated helmet, so I can't just take my motorcycle helmet.

Can anyone recommend a place in the San Diego area where I can try on helmets? I seem to have a difficult to fit head, so I can't really do mail order.

Thanks.

Try C2 Racers in Kearney Mesa.

Steve and Ron are both good guys and can help you out. They also participate at the local autocross events. If they don't have something that works for you, I am sure they can provide a reference.

I went to C2 today. Thanks.

The track is Willow Springs, north of Los Angeles. The track day is being run by Speed Trial USA. Anyone know anything about them?

Why do these places cost so much?! $150 just to get on the track.

No tracks in san Diego, sorry to say. Closest is Cal / AutoClub Speedway in Fontana. Other than that you're going furhter north.

Actually, $150 is pretty cheap. You pretty much get what you pay for. Some offer very basic instruction for the newbie. Some do a better job of managing the sessions and number of cars on the track at any given time. Some have a heavy (A good thing.) focus on safety. Some provide course workers, also to enhance safety.

It takes a minumum payment for those who coordinate these events in order to cover the expenses. Probably always a tow truck available, along with emergency services. Hope ya never need them, but great to have around just in case.

I just want a place that I can go 180 on without getting arrested, the rest is based on a driver's skill and common sense. It also says no emergency services or trucks etc.
