What Mods are Legal : Arizona

Hello! I'm trying to figure out what mods are considered legal and illegal based on Arizona emissions standards.

I haven't been able to find anything that says that any particular mod is illegal (aside from the removal of emissions equipment, like the catalyst), but I haven't found anything saying that anything is legal either. I'd assume anything with a CARB certification is legal, but does AZ follow CARB standards in full? Is there a list of legal modifications, or at least legal modification guidelines, anywhere?

The reason I ask is because I'd like to build a custom intake, but the plan is somewhat intricate and it would be difficult to swap it for the stock one when the time for emissions testing comes.

OBD2 they don't look under the hood.

Get an Accessport from MazdaManiac and you will pass emissions even without a cat or airpump or any other emissions garbage.

Go crazy.

the cobb wont throw codes.

i don't know if you'll pass with multiple things disabled. Carbon rx8 recently went through trying to get his car to readiness and found it would not go ready for the air pump or cat. Im most states they'll pass you with one not ready. Out of 7 or so moniters.

Ive been thinking about using a resistor to to fool the ecu into thinking the air pump is still installed.

The intake should not make a difference as long as the maf id is pretty close to stock.

Dont let me discourage you i think the conn is the best mod you can get.

I had no cat and no airpump and passed just fine with the accessport. Not sure what his problem is if he was having trouble.
