i don't like some things about the "special edition" DVD versions of episodes 4-6. but, since that's all they put out, that's all I have...

for example, they actually put hayden christensen in the very last scene of ROTJ. he looks way outta place and they didn't even bother aging him either.

do u know if uncle george is going to release the "original'" versions on BR or DVD?

lesper4 04-18-2008 03:34 PM

i thought that was great that he was not aged, that was the last state he was in seen prior to going to the dark side.

yup, she is gone. I was talking with Jessie last night about it. I said that it really didn't hit me initially. At the bank, I didn't walk away with any paperwork in my hands, since it was all done over the computer as we sat in the bank. We walk outside and it is like....."now what". I looked at Erica and said, "you have the keys?"......as we hand them over, that feeling of WTF am I doing comes over me. I get into the passenger side and start going through some of the things about the car.....and again WTF am I doing.

We drive back to my house, and it didn't really bother me....it kinda felt like I was teaching him how to drive...but it really hit me as we pulled up to our house and I had that sinking feeling as the car drove off. I turned to look at Erica and all I could say was "there she goes".

well, that feeling goes away soon. at least it did for me.

When the car left, it was like.... "well that sucks".... "was this the right thing to do"

now that its been 6 months I am happy I did it. I am in a much better financial situation. I know my original situation was a bit different then yours so I cant speak for you, I can only speak for myself, but the money I was paying to drive that car was more then it was "worth" to keep it.

I truly enjoy the 30 MPG the cobalt gets. it may not be a special car, but in my eyes its a decent LOOKING car, and I am happy with that.

Its also nice to be able to go do things again. nice to buy things again. nice to know that I make more then I spend again. It's also nice to know that we are on track to starting a family sometime soon. In 6 months we have come a long way. hopefully in another 6 months or so we will be at least close enough to where we want to be.

The Miata has helped with the whole situation drastically. I still get to go play, it cost a fraction as much, and once we get everything done to it (at least the big stuff) the initial cost impact of the miata will be over and the running cost should be nice and low.

Not that I didn’t LOVE my RX-8 cause I did, it was the best looking, highest quality, something to be proud of car I have ever had. but saving a minimum of $700 a month sure is freakin awesome! :worship:

How much did you save?

two of the hardest cars for me to sell was the FC drag car and the RX-8. they were both a HUGE part of my life. they both had a lot to do with who I am. it sounds stupid to say about a car, but it was more then a car. they both were an extension of me. Odd cars, odd engines, not your typical everyday run of the mill Honda. (even the miata is not a typical "guy" car. I like that about it... I like to say yeah I have a Miata.... but its not JUST a miata.)

the drag car was all about brute strength, only having the essentials. (we all know how that turned out). the RX-8 was about precision, looks, and showing off.

though both cars were built beyond your typical persons car (much more so on the RX-7) neither car I truly got to finish, but both were very far in their journey.

the cost of the RX-7 to the limit of the rules I was building for were a bit above my pay scale. (long story) I was reaching a little to high in the sky. the RX-8 cost so much a month I did not have money left over to spend on the car anymore. Thats not what I am about. I am about changing the car from time to time. having something new that makes me fall in love with it over and over again. at the end when I was no longer able to do stuff to it, one thing that was nice was that I was not driving it, so simply getting to drive it for the weekend after 3 weeks was a nice change of pace, it kept me "in love with it" (does that make sense?) :eyetwitch

Hopefully the Miata will be the first car that truly gets built to the limits of the rules. something that will be wickedly fun to drive. you already know how fast the car is and thats without REAL struts, springs, sways, wheels, tires, pulleys.. etc. all that stuff was done to the RX-8 and the miata is already almost as fast. can you imagine what it will be like when it's done? :boink: :wiggle:

Well that was a much longer “story” then I intended, but the point is that I DOOOO miss my RX-8, but in the scope of things it was a very good decision on my part. Again I cant speak for you, but if your situation is at all like mine you will get over the initial shock of it being gone soon. In fact it will be when you DON’T HAVE TO MAKE THAT NEXT PAYMENT. That’s when it really hit me how much $700 a month really is. :worship:

You will enjoy the 30 MPG when you drive to far places like work or my house. ;) and hopefully the Miata keeps you occupied and you start to fall in love with it at least a little bit. (you just wait till we get her closer to done, you think it's fun now, just remember how little has been done to make it turn.) Though if you keep kicking my butt in it, I might have to start making you race the 3. :eyetwitch

here is a group hug for RXZ88M. :grouphug: she sure was pretty!

Thank you Casey. I made a similar comment as Erica and I were sitting in our 3, looking out the window at the 8. IT is the BEST car I have owned to date. Pretty beast she was.

Razz1 04-18-2008 08:49 PM

So you were maling a 700 buck car payment?

Get real.

speeddemon32 04-18-2008 09:49 PM

I didnt say the car payment was $700, I said it cost me $700 a month.

I was mailing a $550 car payment and a $150 insurance payment.... yup, that adds up to $700 the last time I checked. ;) Thats not counting the fuel at 15-19 MPG.

The Tundra no longer has a payment, Cobalt is $240 a month. Insurance on the two is under $150. (the same price I was paying JUST for the RX-8)

anything else not seem "real" to you?

I can show you bills iif you like?

scremn8 04-18-2008 11:52 PM

well i had suspend my new hire employee this morning, she only had
6 weeks of work under her belt. but thats what happens when you get
caught stealing....

Razz1 04-19-2008 12:34 AM

No I didn't think you were going to save that much on insurance but you still have to subtract the 240 mnth cobalt payment. This leaves you only 460 buck savings plus MPG differance which keeps going up.

Jedi54 04-19-2008 01:53 AM

caught her with her hand in the cookie jar?

lesper4 04-19-2008 08:20 AM

what were the cookies?

Glen - it obviously seems that you are unaware of Casey's situation.

Casey had the Tundra (paid for), the Cobalt (cheap commuter car), AND the RX-8 all at the same time. So when he says he lost a $700 a month car payment - he did just that. He was always paying the 240 + 150 for the Tundra and Cobalt.

speeddemon32 04-19-2008 04:01 PM

^^^ exactly.

3 cars for 2 people. the RX-8 was a weekend toy. it truly did save me $700 a month. (not including fuel, tires or repairs)

scremn8 04-19-2008 04:55 PM

well the cookies were $100.00 bills, she took one each for the last three weeks.
we did not actually see her do it but thru my intense investigative work i was able
to get enough evidence to pen it on her...

the car payment is $720 a month on my evo!!!!

Detrich 04-20-2008 04:19 AM

ouchie. stealing cash from any retail operation is a very stupid notion- esp for employees. the kind of controls in place make it very easy to catch. (cash register, security cameras etc.)

did she have a juicy excuse that will give us a good laugh. do share.

scremn8 04-20-2008 09:36 AM

that web site was cool. it showed the roads we were on going thru our malibu runs..
there were no camera's in my store she got caught with good old fashion gum shoe detective work...

scremn8 04-20-2008 09:52 AM

OK here's the the story, she would only take money when i was not in the store. she knew that i was always looking at the front of the store Thru my office window. she did not think we could track who took the money if no one saw who did it, well for the most part she was right. but after the first two grabs something had to give, and this is where i step in. I'm out to lunch with two co-workers when i get a phone call, my asst. had just done a mid-day count because something did not seem right to him, he found 4 single under the drawer where the hundreds should be. so he tells me we're a 100 bucks short, and I'm like not again, I'm at lunch i did not go home this time man she's getting bold. so i told him I'll be right there, OK I'll make this short now.
the bill she took had been marked with a counterfeit pen from end to end across the middle, she was the only employee to leave the store for lunch, down the street was a store. i went to the store and asked for their help, they pulled out the bill that came from my store. i gave them five 20's and brought the bill back as evidence. we talked to her the next day about and she denied the whole thing. my boss did not tell her what we had or how we got it, so they are going to prosecute her for theft..
