Rx8 Horsepower Gains / Mods
What kind of HP Numbers are we Looking at when adding
Headers Intake Cat back Exhaust ????? or is spending 5 grand on a supercharger really worth it...?? :dunno: |
You might as well get a midpipe too if you are going to do all that. You'll get maybe like 15 or so hp?
True Forgot to add Midpipe.... just wondering...Since SuperCharging is super Expensive.... but cant expect much out of Intakes and Exhausts...just wana see what kind of HP other people have gotten out of their 8's with those NA mods
You'll want to get an AccessPort and tune it to get maximum benefits from all that stuff.
That said you aren't likely to be pushing more than ~220 to the wheels even if your engine is running well. |
My n/a not tuned but my mid I saw the most gain from it. I'm getting my car dyno'd in march so Ill know my numbers then.

Lol..... yeah...get it dyno'd and post ur Numbers here...and list mods....
I happen to know that Gr8 has a 6port AT with Racing Beat intake and the AP dual res midpipe
So he'll be pushing like 180HP to the wheel at the most.

samsies
Fly wheel is the best performance mod next to the AP
Given the now reduced price of the Cobb AP, that should be your first acquisition.

RB Duct comming this week for better airflow! |
hmmm... Not sure if adding any of this will actually improve enough to were i can actually Feeel Some Improvement...
^ You can definitely feel (and measure) the improvement with a Cobb AP and a MazdaManiac custom tune. But you're correct that an aftermarket intake/exhaust won't do much. Going Cat-less ('midpipe') will of course offer significant gains, but that's for track only. Alternatively a high flow Cat such as the RP Supercat, which is emissions street legal, but not as much gain.
you won't get that much HP unless you go FI
i think Nobody will Feel much Unless there is sometype of Forced induction.... SUpercharger or TurboCharger.....
N/A Mods are Cool because they arent as expensive....just wish i could get more HP outa N/A mods.... the car is rated 228Hp but people DYno only like 180-190hp>...Lol... wth.. |
^tru dat!
That's becuse you're comparing the engine's rated horsepower against its "at the wheels" HP (WHP), which will always be lower given the innate resistance of the other drivetrain components.
Every couple of NA HP gain adds up, but is dwarfed by FI, as we all know.

the engine looses power along the way turning the shaft, axels and other stuffs before it finally turns the wheels... hence crank hp and wheel hp... simple physics.
LOl,, yeah i know.... i wish they could actually get 228hp TO the WHEEls..not the Crank...LOL..
with the right mods and tunning you can get up to 223whp from what ive seen.
