RX-8 Heating problems
I own a 2004 RX8 automatic trans. it has about 80,000 miles
Recently, everytime I drive the car, it almost overheats. The A/C turns to warm air, and the temperature gauge goes to almost all the way hot. I've had problems with this before, my coolant hasn't dumped I think 3 times now (do to overheating), but has been fixed by a certified Mazda dealership. Ive checked the coolant level and oil level. I keep up on all scheduled maintenance.. I dont know what to do. The fan still works, and im pretty sure the water pump is still working. What could the problem be? Any help would be nice. Also are there anyways to make it faster without spending that much money. I already put an exhaust system and a new intake on it. |
bring it by if you have time:
4375 West Reno Ave #6, 89118 phone: 702-277-9846 sun-thur 10-6 fri-sat 2-11 could be a simple fix, could be something a bit more in depth. as for performance mods, unfortunately the 8 is already pushing the limits and to get more power costs a bit for small amounts. most go with forced induction beyond the renesis but that will cost a few body parts. |
if your temperature needle is moving, you're already over 220°F, sounds to me like you could have a problem with your t-stat or water pump.
Make sure to get this looked at right away as running the car at those temperatures for prolonged periods could be deadly for the motor. |
^ as he said get it checked out ..... with the heat we get locally you shouldn't risk possiable terminal damage

you dont have any CEL's do you, coolant leaks, or anything like that? also maybe the temp sensor? IDK. you should find the problem ASAP though. take it to Karack.
Flex-a-lite 31165 Variable Speed Control Module: http://www.flex-a-lite.com/auto/html...cessories.html Mazmart Shopping Cart 2004-2009 Mazda RX-8 Coolant Temperature Sensor – Standard TX40 - Coolant Temperature Sensor - Standard Power: ZEX Blackout Wet Nitrous Kit | Black Halo Racing N20= cheapest and much faster then stock N/A mods like headers mid-pipe exhaust intake and AP tune should make a big difference accompanied with N20. |
and make sure both fans are running, not just one. with the amount of trash that blows around this city also check to be sure something hasn't worked in front of the condensor core blocking airflow through the radiator.
