Hi.

A simplistic explanation....

I made a post on this a while back in this thread, that was considered quite helpful....

The Cobb A/P is a way of modifying (re-programming) the Factory engine computer to increase engine performance (among other things). Hymee in Australia has introduced a laptop-based tuning software that is said to work similarly.

The AccessPort system can download modified commands ("maps") to reprogram the stock computer to change operating parameters, or to allow for addition of forced induction (turbos & superchargers).

The Greddy E-manage series; Canzoomer; and Interceptor-X; (were) are piggyback units designed to add extra fuel and spark (or the opposite) to the engine by adding an additional computer between the engine computer's output and the engine.

Since the stock engine computer is quite sophisticated, uses many parameters and has many 'maps', the piggyback computers were not a complete or elegant solution to modifying the engine. Note though that the piggybacks were the only solution until the 'code' of the Mazda computer was 'cracked' by Cobb / Hymee / EFIDude /et.al in 2007.

The above is VERY simplistic.

so you mean cobb A/P is better than the Emanage.....

^ correct, everyone considers emanage completely out dated now that the Cobb AP unit is out.
