...as a new RX-8 owner. Got my car on 11/7/03 :D
Unfortunately, the first thing happened to me was to get a speeding ticket next morning :(
Hard to feel with a new car how fast you're going until you get used to it - especially with this one. You don't have a sense of speed because it's so smooth and effortless. Oh well :D

Needless to say, I'm very happy with my new ride :cool:

True observations. Sorry your enthusiasm had to be dampened so soon. Pretty soon you will get a feel for RPM vs gear and you'll be able to tell your speed without checking the speedo. But yeah, this thing goes a lot faster than it looks or feels.

That's a bummer about the ticket -

I got pulled over about a week after getting mine and the cop cut me a break because it was a new car and "it would be a shame to get a ticket" - lucky I guess.

How fast were you going? I was doing about 83 in a (I guess) 60 zone (I-8 west @ Mission Valley)

Actually, I was only going 45 in a 35 zone... oh well.

So right! This car is AWESOME, my GF and I are loving ours! Smooth as silk on the road. Going 80 on the freeway felt like going 60 in her old 94 Civic Del Sol.
