Holy crap... I just got this thing installed, and I'm a bit worried...

I originally intended to have the catback installed, when my shop calls me to say it wont fit with the stock cat.. rather than pay money to have my stock exhaust removed then reinstalled, I think "okay, I'll run the full system with the race pipe..."
After they installed it and were revving it in the shop it was loud but sounded bearable from outside the car.

But then I drove it. It. Is. LOUD! I'm 18 and even with my obnoxious use, I think it's a bit much. Now, the system is fine while cruising, but ANY application of throttle brings out the loud, deep noise inside the car. I was expecting it to be fine at low speeds, and only get crazy if I revved quickly past 4k or so RPM...

Anyone care to chime in on a midpipe I can pair this with to quiet it down, or if I should just find a way to have the cat reinstalled? I really don't want to have this thing chopped up to install a 2.5" -> 3" merge and flange, but it might have to be done...

Don't worry about it.. I thought my AP midpipe was way loud when I first got it but you get used to it.. Give it two weeks and you won't think it's so loud.

im having the same problem man
ive had my turbo xs for bout a month now and it still drones like a mug
im bout to put my stock cat back on until i can find a good resonated midpipe
leaning more toward the mazsport or RB

some quick fixes include throwing blankets in the trunk or puting dynomat down in the car

Exclamation Exhaust idea

Ok to everyone that has installed this I have an idea that would work for you if you think that it is too loud. Go up to Autozone and pay a few bucks to get the spray of rubberized undercoating and spray your heat shield all the way down, that should cut your sound in the car down a little bit, operative word is should.....Lot cheaper than buying a new mid pipe....

Also to everyone that has bought this exhaust could you guys please put up what year your 8 is and if you can put a picture or two up...

I think the heat from the midpipe will have an ill-effect on the rubberized undercoating. I also can't predict that the rubberized coating will cut down the noise to a notable difference. Putting a blanket or a car cover in the trunk and lining the interior with dynamat soundproofing will probably make a notable difference but of course it will require much work and money.

I posted about the fitment issues months ago, I spent over $1k so far getting my RP Supercat modified and adding a resonator to quiet it down. TurboXS are a bunch of lying douches, scroll back and read them and others arguing with me about fitment. I even PMed and asked SPECIFICALLY about the RP Supercat prior to purchase and they said yes it will fit WITH NO MODIFICATION. That is a flat out lie. $499 my ***, $1000+ so far to get what I was originally hoping for. Well made yes, honest vendor, no.

I ended up having a v-band connector welded to the rear section and to the race pipe and RP Supercat, since the tail end of the RP Supercat had to be cut off and a new flange welded to fit the TurboXS rear section anyway, makes it easier to change the mid pipes out (This added about $150 to the costs but is worth it). The RP made it a bit quieter, but still far too loud. I had a resonator welded in place on the RP and that seems to be the trick. I spent a lot of cash having parts taken off, cut, welded, put on, taken off, cut, welded, put on, etc.

PS - I have heard mating this exhaust to an RP Supercat will need a special gasket. Do I need any special parts?

Thanks,
Jason
No problem! You should have all the hardware needed to bolt the exhaust up in catback or header back configuration.

RP supercat? Is that a stock part? I should have been more specific with you stating that if it is a stock part then yes. If it is an aftermarket pipe. There is no way to tell without getting on a car here. If what we sell doesn't fit you can return it. Simple as that.

Am i a lying douche doubt it.

Thanks,

Jermaine~

Yea, you should have asked about it then. The RP Supercat bolts to stock front and back, but not to your rear part. Different flange size. At that point I had paid to have the stock exhaust removed and the rear was on. They called me back and 3-4 guys that know RX8s said no it won't go. Hence the race pipe going on, rather than pay even more to remove and reinstall stock to sort it out.

Perhaps then you aren't a liar, but you did not try and research the question for a buyer asking a question. Had you done so I might not have bought this exhaust system. I like it, I just didn't like all the work I've had to do to get it to fit the way I want, RP Supercat for street and the racepipe for the track. In the end I got a good setup, it just cost me more than twice as much as expected. Caveat emptor, but you should try and help your customers find out real answers to their questions.

You said yes no problem, I bought. Then I had to sort the issues out. Not what I was looking for. And as a vendor you, and YOU as in all of TurboXS, should step up and work harder and not try and weasel around a mistake. As a buyer it sucks to be called into the back of a garage to see something doesn't fit and then have to decide on the spot what to do, knowing money is already invested regardless of returning the item.

Got my exhaust put on sounds really good...Spraying the heat shield with the rubberized undercoating was a good idea, does keep the sound from coming in through the bottom, just hear the sound out the back like it should sound.....Nice unit.....For people that have R3, you will have to change the hangers that hold the muffler to lower it from the bumper....

Scroll back a few pages, the flange at the rear of the Supercat is different. I had to have this cut off and mods made to get them to mate up.

Sir, what is this rubberized coating you speak of? I don't have any noise because of my dual res midpipe but wouldn't mind trying this on other cars here in Vegas that don't have the DR midpipe.

oooo in MD.... more appealing now, do you guys have a store front or is this just something you allow randomly.

still afraid it will sound farty and drone like crazy... Are most people running with the cat on?
