jiggawha1 08-22-2008 12:06 PM

Updates?

seatownracer 08-22-2008 06:30 PM

Contacting the locations for the event and seeing if they will be able to house us.

jiggawha1 08-27-2008 11:54 AM

Where did DRKILLJOY go? Anyone heard anything? We prolly need to get this planned within the next 2-3 weeks

thejew89 08-27-2008 05:19 PM

yeah do we have a place yet

seatownracer 08-29-2008 03:34 PM

Still waiting to hear from DrKillJoy, if he does not get back on here within a week then I will get the ball rolling and find a place in Austin to do this.

If it comes to that

DrKillJoY 08-29-2008 07:43 PM

Sorry I've been taking care of family issues and was at the track for a few days.

I'm back and should be caught up with emails tonight or tomrrow.

seatownracer 08-30-2008 10:35 AM

No worries bro, hope everything is good with the family.

seatownracer 09-04-2008 11:29 AM

Just wanted to let you guys know that tonight when I get home I am going to start calling some places in Austin and see where we can have our statewide meet. Are people still down to do this??

Grungepup 09-04-2008 02:14 PM

Sounds good, I know a few of us in San Antonio are looking to go.

What happened to the Bastrop idea? or maybe somewhere else? I like the idea of a small town.

jiggawha1 09-04-2008 05:42 PM

I don't think he meant Austin directly...prolly somewhere outside there like fredricksburg or something...yea I'm definitely still down to attend this

seatownracer 09-05-2008 10:59 AM

Well I am not sure what happend to drkilljoy, sounds like it may be a personal matter but I have gone ahead and called and it sounds like bastrop is booked. they told me that there is a place called bastrop south shore and a place called colorado river camp site that should be able house us. She said that both places have camp sites and cabins and that the camp sites are $15 a night to book and can hold a max of 8 people per site. I am still waiting to hear more info and I will relay it to you all when I do........

TX09RX8 09-05-2008 07:44 PM

Guys this isn't that hard. Unless you are just determined to camp you can get hotels for a reasonable amount in the smaller towns.

I belong to a Solstice club and we do several of these per year in TX and Arkansas, NM and AZ. Is the purpose of this a show and shine or a drive the twisties and see what they will do sort of deal?

Our deals are usually drive there on Friday, have dinner together, drive all day Saturday - dinner Sat night and then everyone on their way home on Sunday. The usual Saturday run is about 250-300 miles.

Does this sound like what you all want to do? I can share the info with anyone who wants to organize it.

seatownracer 09-10-2008 07:55 AM

Just wanted to update you guys that I have been calling places and so far everything is pretty much booked by cub scout groups. I don't know if I will be able to get this thing going for Oct. seeing how it is cutting it pretty close, if someone was willing to help out then maybe it could be done, but as of now it is just myself so I am thinkin we may need to push the statewide meet back a bit......

Any suggestions??

Grungepup 09-10-2008 08:43 AM

Are you looking for just camp sites? or are you looking at hotel/motel?

seatownracer 09-10-2008 10:29 AM

Whatever place that can hold a bunch of people and cars.

TX09RX8 09-10-2008 02:00 PM

Grungepup 09-10-2008 04:16 PM

WOO HOO SECRET SQUIRREL STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:lol2:

seatownracer 09-10-2008 08:45 PM

Looks like there is a town outside of Fredricksburg that we may be doing this event at. Another car group does a meet there because there is hotels that are nice and cheap, there are known places to eat and there are a bunch of nice long roads to drive on.

From what I am told the hotel has plenty of room and parking, plus we could probably find a park in the area and do a BBQ as well.

I guess I just need to figure out if people are wanting to do this. If we can get enough people signed up sayin that they will go then lets do it! Only serious people though, please. I do not want to drive 4 1/2 hours from DFW and only us people from DFW show up.

I will be getting a flier made up and I will send it out to people that have shown interest in taking part in this event.

thejew89 09-11-2008 01:12 AM

make sure you send me one of those fliers steve im goin

seatownracer 09-11-2008 10:27 AM

Here is the plan for the Texas statewide RX8 meet.

It is going to take place in the town of Kerville, which is west
of Fredricksburg and Austin. It should be a good location for
everyone to get to. Kerrville is a location that other car groups
go to because of the long stretches of twisty roads that they have
to drive/cruise on not to mention there is a hotel that we can stay
at that only charges about $70 a night. The hotel rooms come with
a fridge and microwave incase you wanted to bring your own food, plus
there is a continental breakfest available to each guest. I will call
the hotel tonight and see how many rooms I can block off and let you
all know.

It sounds like we have a good size group of people that are wanting to
take part in this so I will be sending out a flier with all of the info
on the event once I get the hotel info. We are still looking at doing
this on the weekend of Oct. 25th-26th, so mark your calenders and let
me know if you for sure are planning on coming.

For those that want to come please let me know if you would rather go
out to eat on that Saturday night or if you would rather have a big BBQ.

Again this is just a remeinder with more info, I will have more infomation
in the coming days, but please let me know if you are planning on coming.

Thanks and hope to see a lot of you out there

seatownracer 09-11-2008 12:15 PM

Just talked to the hotel that was recommended down there and they are willing to give us a group rate cost of $59+ tax for the saturday night that we would need.

Now I just need to figure out who all plans on going so we know how many rooms we will need. Each room has either 1 king size bed or 2 twin size beds.

You probably want Friday night as well if you are going to do a run on Saturday.

seatownracer 09-11-2008 12:21 PM

Yeah most likely....

So are those roads not very busy at all or what?
