Planned mods for the Texas8 2011?

For me it's new wheels (you will have to wait and see which ;) ), 18 x 9.5 +40, and I just got new 245/40 -18 Raptis WR-1 tires. Next is sway bars front and rear, endlinks, coilovers (endura tech or stance), and secondary radiator.

987HYS 01-29-2011 02:36 AM

I'm just hoping to get all the maintenance done by then... will probably add up to almost $2k... that includes new tires.. :fingersx:

Creto 01-29-2011 09:45 AM

I'm torn on what I'm considering.

hoss -05 01-29-2011 10:02 AM

I picked up a few mods, its to bad I wont be making the event! I think you should pick up the Hotchkins sways 9k!

tbk 01-31-2011 03:08 PM

lip, sides, exhaust shrouds, roof spoiler, new exhaust if that guy comes through. wheels back on. stance coils. i also want to get a trunk but its mad expensive, so i might just take my spoiler off and get the holes filled/repainted.

cornholio135 02-07-2011 02:55 PM

RB endlinks, coils, wires, possibly RotorPros rotors and pads...

renesisjim 02-07-2011 09:14 PM

Energy suspension poly bushings, tires, and hopefully skirts and new rear bumper

WTBRotary! 02-07-2011 09:19 PM

BHR Midpipe and possibly RB Sways F and R with endlinks...

9krpmrx8 02-07-2011 10:11 PM

Nice guys, I will be picking up sways soon and I am still debating on which coilovers. Having Hoss-05's Stance in hand makes me want them but on the other hand I want to get something different.

I got my HKS off and the 2010 GT stock exhaust on in the meantime until I decide which exhaust i want. I'll get the tips adjusted to fit the shrouds tomorrow. It's so weird driving a quiet 8 again even though I still have the BHR pipe on.

tbk 02-08-2011 08:26 AM

^^buy my turbo xs! lol

phrenetiK 02-08-2011 09:38 AM

planned mod-
a working rx8.

WTBRotary! 02-09-2011 01:41 PM

^^^ Sounds about right. Im having a few problems right now. I just posted a new thread in the trouble shooting forum. I think I have a fuel injector stuck open...

Creto 02-09-2011 05:56 PM

Money I was planning on spending on a mod just got reallocated to fix damage from flying debris. F'ing Toyota that flipped it up and hit me.

9krpmrx8 02-11-2011 01:25 PM

^ That sucks dude.

987HYS 02-14-2011 12:25 AM

add a new radiator to that list..

renesisjim 02-18-2011 08:07 PM

Got my poly bushings ordered. Now I just need tires and the rest of my esthetics. Fingers crossed.

Highspeed 02-19-2011 10:03 PM

Well, I only have small things but they are big to me because I havent modded anything since my eclipse years ago. I will have a new enginer (thanks to the old one blowing 2 months after I bought the car), clear corners with LED lights, LED parking white lights instead of amber, front and back rotary chrome emblems on the lower bumpers, intake, modified exhaust tips (dont want a full exhaust because I want no sound so got bigger tips for look and happy with it), eyelids, and rotary volume knob. I am also getting new rims at the beginning of March with my tax money. I know all this isnt big to you guys but just little things I have already picked up here and there with having a wife and 2 kids lol. Also will have windows tinted by then as well...going 5%.

987HYS 02-19-2011 10:39 PM

The shopping list:

Ron Davis radiator
Racing Beat radiator hoses
R motor mount
R motor mount bracket
RE-medy t'stat
RE-medy water pump

Mixed results with the thermostat... They begin showing signs of rust pretty early. Not too sure how that will affect operation, but just an observation.

+1

On top of that I'm hoping to have new suspension next weekend, new headlights are in hand, going to do the lamin-x then install them, going to pull my tail lights and do the same. I've got some issue with my trunk mounted monitors that needs attention, either I'll just leave them in and not use them or i'll have them replaced by then with any luck. I'm trying to make this run for sure, have not booked a room or anything yet as until my car gets the suspension done I don't feel comfortable committing, might try and pick up 2 new rear tires before then too. Hoping to see everyone out there, I hated missing the last one, hopefully this year will be different.

9krpmrx8 02-20-2011 01:32 AM

Sounds good everyone, I'll be doing new gauges tomorrow and then springs and an ATF tranny cooler for two other members tomorrow :)

whiterx8man 02-20-2011 08:05 AM

Tein S-techs, side skirts, short throw shifter

I did some searching and couldnt find anything out about the rust issues. in my research I did however come across some interesting info like temp spikes. I think I may hold off on the t'stat and just go with the water pump. (all this coming from the guy with no undertrey)

tbk 02-24-2011 08:41 AM

9krpmrx8 03-17-2011 01:52 PM

Any updates?

Lord ET 03-17-2011 02:15 PM

Nice, I am curious to see how my KYB/Tein combo does compared to my old setup. I want coil overs bad but I have some things to pay first.

QTdude 03-17-2011 02:48 PM

I ordered a BHR ignition a week ago, doubt it will be here in time to put on. Hoping to get on some Hotchkis sways too, and maybe a new deck and a sub... so little time to get anything done when you only have the car for... a little over 2 weeks before the meet. I have a lot of stuff planned for when I get back though.

Well hopefully you can get the kit before then, that would be cool.

renesisjim 03-18-2011 09:24 AM

My bushings will have to wait until we get back. Didn't realize how big of a job that was going to be. I will be installing another set of STechs as my rear driver side is sagging 3/4". Still waiting to see of Tein will warranty them.

Tein is pretty good about warranty. When I was having my sagging issues I sent mine back to them and they tested out just fine. They actually sent me a statement stating so as well. I had already installed a new set of Teins and KYB shocks which fixed my sagging issues. I would be willing ot bet your issue uis a shock issue not the Teins.

My shocks appeared to be fine when we removed them but obviously they were not because installing the KYB shocks fixed the issue.

renesisjim 03-19-2011 10:36 AM

I'm good if that is the case as well. D-specs have a lifetime warranty, but they seem to be fine. No play in them at all. I ended up buying springs. They will be here wed. If that doesn't fix it. I'll send the d-specs off. I'm hoping its the springs, because I definitely can't make the trip with my camper the way it is.

Add: I found my oem struts, so if the d-specs are bad, I'll just put those in for the run. We shall see.

QTdude 03-26-2011 08:34 PM

I got my new radio installed, my axelflow short shifter from my old 8 is also in, and once the weather is a little nicer will put the Racing beat oil cooler cover things on. That will probably be it for me other then what was done in the past.

renesisjim 03-26-2011 10:05 PM

Im going to put my oem rear struts in tomorrow to see if that fixes te sag before my springs get here on tues. Just to be sure it isn't the struts.

987HYS 03-26-2011 11:57 PM

well I am taking my car to the dealership tuesday morning. right now I am hoping that I have my car back for next weekend. keep your fingers crossed...

QTdude 03-27-2011 10:55 PM

Got the oil cooler covers on, and Jimmy broke one of my side vents but we ghetto rigged it on the Oklahoma way! Can't wait for Thursday to come so we can head to Texas.

renesisjim 03-28-2011 05:55 PM

Well it was my strut sagging. So we shall see how well tokico stands behind their warranty. And again I'm sorry James, you can have my vent when my new ones come in.

QTdude 03-28-2011 06:17 PM

Eh, as long as it stays on I would rather not go through the trouble of taking that thing off again. Going to be using the stock shocks then? For the trip that is. I wonder where they dragged my car off to, you could of taken the old ones off of it O.o

renesisjim 03-28-2011 07:32 PM

Yeah stock rears for the trip. I called tokico and left a message, the warranty guy was out of office. Even if they warranty them, I might just buy coilovers and be done.

9krpmrx8 03-30-2011 09:36 AM

Jim you are the second person I have known personally to have this issue.

Thats crazy. Ray from tokico cld me back. He helped me track down the people I bought my struts from. I'm shipping it off for replacement as soon as I get back. I already have all the rga #'s and everything. I decided to go ahead and install the new stechs that I bought and Highspeed is going to buy my old ones, since that wasn't the problem.

See you guys tomorrow
