Stop Scams

All I am doing is stating a problem. I don't have the solution. It is rather amusing to rip the scammers to shreds, but eventually someone will be scammed upon. Maybe a post minimum or something of that nature.

hahah seems like you finally got the use of the unclesam smily.

i agree that this stupid scammers have to be stopped. but its easier said than done. even if your proposal did go through and was a limit, it probably wont stop desperate scammers.
i know this idea opposes problems for non-owners but maybe presenting some sort of proof of having the car inorder to register into the club would some how diminish this annoying problem. im pretty sure these stupid scammers dont even own an 8.
thats just my thought...

If you are refering to people posting about scams on the forums or spam, well there isn't to much that can help.

And having someone proof they own the car is not a great idea either cause we should welcome non-owners as some maybe looking to buy the car. That and non-owners who just want to share ideas of discuss their car in comparison to the 8 should be welcome.

Forums are like life. You will encounter arse holes in daily life, but have to ignore and leave them alone and move on.

Scammers can only scam on people by taking advantage of an individual's greed or carelessness. People should be more careful and learn how to protect themselves coz its not possible to get rid of every scammer out there.

Haven't looked to much in the for sale section.

But do you guys require that someone selling any item has to post pictures that include a piece of paper with their screen name, date/time, and item for sale?

We use that on the protege5 forums and has helped a lot with any fraud sellers.

^^^^ I like that idea.

i think thats a good idea also, Im new here... someone posted in the classifieds that they were selling a turbo kit, exhaust etc ... people were posting that he's back, when are you going to stop, you post looks similar/familiar, etc... if i were willing enough I could have bought from this guy!

Usually the scams aren't hard to spot, just very annoying. I wasn't trying to reinvent the wheel here, just open some eyes and minds. It was tough at first to try and buy something on here. I maybe had 5 or 6 posts and the sellers wanted me to send them money first(I would too), then they would ship the product. That was a big leap of faith on my part, especially when it was wheels for $500 and tires for $300. But I personally did a little homework prior to buying.
