Spam specific moderators

Can we get some extra moderators that could respond specifically to reported spam? Maybe it's just the fact that I'm in a different time zone, but it seems like there has been quite a lot of spam lately when I'm on and it seems to be left alone for a while before being deleted.

I realize this is probably not something that is available as a feature, but I'd still like to see something to help reduce the amount of spam and how long it is posted. I already report it as soon as I see it.

When you click on the report post button, it sends an email like this to every moderator that is over that forum. It also sends the email to every super moderator, since they are over every subforum.

I clean off the stuff in Discussion, Tech, and DIY as I see it (the only subforums I have the tools active in), only missing the emails when it's reported overnight (EST US). Typically the stuff in the other forums either gets caught by Ash on the flip side for our hours or Al as he can.

Largely, being busy at work is the main reason for any of us missing spam immediately.

I am going to start writing loving notes when i report spam now that i know it gets sent to every single mod. :D

RIWWP 12-03-2012 08:16 AM

The description of the report button is a bit restrictive :)

I do actually use it to draw Al's and Ash's attention to something I don't know specifically how to handle, or if it's action that should be taken that I cant like moving threads, splitting threads, etc...

Writing love notes with it might get you more attention than the posts you are reporting...

Gee. I thought we mods were pretty quick to remove spam?..:)

Most time zones are covered....as long as our  LOVING MEMBERS  hit the report button, we act.

We mods rely on you guys to hit the report button every time....so a BIG thank YOU to you guys and gals:rock::beer05::rock:

The forum is not that busy now days to have more mods...IMO.

Ash8 is eastern Australia and I am central U.S. That puts us about 12 hours a part on the clock for spam removal. The other active Super Mods are central or western U.S. & Canada. That pretty much covers the clock.
Remember, we are unpaid volunteers and do what we can to keep order on the site. We all have lives outside of RX8Club and can't be on here 24/7.

That thread "Samsung Galaxy Tablet 2 7.0 Installed in NaviHood - Completed!" causes me to jump every time it is updated. Just for the moment I think it's new spam.

Oh, I definitely understand that you guys can't be on 24/7. That's why I was just trying to think of a way to potentially have more people able to manage spam without necessarily adding more full moderators.

Al, I am actually in South (Southern Australia), in the middle down the bottom...not east coast, so I am 30 minutes behind east coast of Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane)..:)
