product reveiws section

after being a long term meber over at rx7 club and being a recent member here at rx8 club i feel the forum needs a product reveiws section, it will clean up alot of the other sections with a hundred threads about (what exhaust i should buy) ect.ect. and on other forums ive found that a reveiws section's have been very helpful.

Lets start a petition...this is actually a very good idea. +1

13bturbofc 05-16-2008 05:04 PM

yeah i mean honestly id bet that at least half of the threads on this forum are about products purchased so why not have a section just for that? i can for-see it being very very helpful for forum members. it could include anything from engine parts to body kit fitment/durability. as everyone knows when you go to buy a part there are always at least like 5 different makers of the same part.

i would be for a section like this. on 7club i tried to get a diy section going but nothing happened.

i dont think many people check this section but i would have thought a mod would have said something by now.

good idea! I'm on board...

quazmosis 05-20-2008 02:16 PM

I'll sign this petition. When I buy something expensive anywhere the first place I go is to find reviews of the things I want to buy. Great Idea.

Atilla 05-20-2008 09:38 PM

Back up to the top!

+1 on this - i think this will save a lot of people time and sanity when looking for that next mod. excellent idea!

Razz1 05-20-2008 10:42 PM

alz0rz 05-21-2008 12:45 AM

excellent idea.

swoope 05-21-2008 01:24 AM

ok,

who is going to do the reviews.. the sellers. or just links to reviews?

beers

13bturbofc 05-21-2008 06:57 AM

no this will be a buyers only reveiws, ie if i would buy an intake i would list quality fitment performance gains ect. ect.

13bturbofc 05-21-2008 06:58 AM

cause of course we all know when we go to buy a product they usually list a few costomer reveiws but u know there never gonna list any of the negitive reveiws.

13bturbofc 05-22-2008 09:03 PM

wow i guess this section is worthless, i pmed some mods and didn't get any replies either.....

quazmosis 05-23-2008 09:39 AM

If I'd buy a mod and it sucked I'd sure let people know about it.

Atilla 05-23-2008 03:39 PM

*bump*

seriously - what would be the negatives of this?

Just got my AP yesterday, and thought I'd post my initial impressions.

Cobb's hardware leaves a little to be desired IMO. It's kind of cheap for how much you're paying for it... granted they did the R&D to make all this stuff work the the RX8's PCM, including RX8 specific settings, and that's not a small task. I had a problem getting my AP talking with the PCM... at first it wouldn't communicate at all. Unplugging the OBD-II connector and then plugging it back in fixed it, but it's VERY sensitive, and still losses communication sometimes. Wiggling the connector sometimes does the trick... I've heard other people have this problem with the AP's OBD-II connector as well.

After I got the stupid thing installed, it was pretty much smooth sailing. I ended up on MM's "1a" flash, and after about a hundred miles or so (I have long commute ) the LTFT is at 0, and my AFRs seem to be right on target (although I haven't logged them and done an in depth analysis yet). I'm pretty happy with the way it runs on the new flash. This is pretty subjective, but it feels a lot smoother, especially in the lower RPM range, and also when the extra intake ports open up at higher RPM--I used to really feel the little hiccups in the torque when this happened before the flash. Overall I doubt the gains are significant, but it does improve the drivability (again, totally subjective). Added bonus is the fans turning on earlier... just in time for the Texas summer months too

Overall, I'm very satisfied. I would say that if you're on a tight budget to maybe pass this by, but if you've got some spare cash to throw around then go for it... as long as you don't have ridiculous expectations about the performance gains.

Major props have to go out to MazdaManiac for all the hard work he's put in creating the flashes for all of us. He could (read: should) have charged more money to get the AP from him with these included. Bravo sir... the second half or your handle is certainly apt
I guess in my opinion this guy's post is a pretty darn good idea of what we're shooting for are we not? This is the way I picture it.

13bturbofc 05-24-2008 12:19 AM

yeah thats the kind of info were looking for...i dont know why any mods didnt say anything in here yet
