Problems with identity changes

Looks like there are some people having issues with their login not being right... and they're appearing as someone else.

I haven't experienced it myself.

Do a search for posts by Lucozade if you want to see some complaints about the issue.

Edit: Look here: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...threadid=14217

Something to do with new users signing up????

allstate 11-10-2003 02:13 PM

Yep, just happened to me...I replied to a post and it signed me in as "Torpedo". What's going on....

allstate 11-10-2003 02:16 PM

...Also, Torpedo appears to be a new user as this was his first post. Instead of asking for my login/pass it just posted as Torpedo. I logged out and it said, "all cookies have been cleared".

allstate 11-18-2003 07:10 PM

...8 days later and it's still happening....

Hayseed 11-21-2003 07:30 PM

Happened to me too. It was a bit schizophrenic. I wanted to post a reply to a thread and it turns out I was already logged in as the last guy who posted. I deleted my post. I closed explorer, opened up the forum and I was still logged in as someone else. I rebooted and was myself again.

Not good. Some real mischief could be done.

rx8pilot 11-23-2003 10:15 AM

same thing happened to me.. i signed up for an account..didn't log in again for 3 days.. then once i tried to log in again..it didn't recognize my password...so it was emailed to me.. then i reset it...and found out that someone else had my username and posted a reply on one of the posts..was from CT or something..lol..i'm not from CT. what is going on? i don't want to have my username hijacked again. i'm a pilot..don't like hijacks..lol something deff. needs to be done about the security issues on this site..I think this should be a sticky moderators..

You get the feeling that the mods haven't noticed this thread? As I say, some real mischief could be done posting under someone else's username. Makes me nervous.

Marcus Desaul 11-24-2003 06:38 AM

Here you go. I (username: Hayseed) just opened the browser to the RX-8 forum and it seems I'm already logged in as someone named Marcus Desaul.

I will logout.

rx8pilot 11-24-2003 04:10 PM

LMAO

LMAO..that's kinda funny you have to admit.. MODERATORS>>>HELLO???? something needs to be done.

Toadman 11-24-2003 04:13 PM

hi there, i'm logged in as a new user as well! this isn't my account! just wanted to let you guys know about it!

by teh way, this is the second time that something this bizarre has happened to me! this afternoon, i was logged int as someone else! even the forum layout changed all of a sudden from dark blue to white! i quickly closed IE, deleted cookies/histories and it was OK again!

Geek 11-27-2003 11:22 PM

sorry just a test

Texas 8 12-07-2003 04:08 PM

Happened to me too. All I did was logout and log back in as my normal username and all was right with the world again.

When someone becomes a member (eg: Burke just became one), my session automaticaly switches to their name. I notice before I post - so I logoff and login as me. It's happened about 15 times over a two week period.

Speed & Trixie 12-14-2003 03:58 PM

Well, it's still happeing, because I am NOT Speed & Trixie.
I just opened this site and was logged in as Speed and Trixie.
I'm not even a registered user on this site.
However, it is a GREAT site. Lots of great information.
I'd register, but who knows who would be using my handle afterwords!!

later

Yup. Here I am posting for the first time. Except that I'm not HooKook and I've actually been posting since September.

IMHO this is a pretty serious security issue and nothing has been done about it at least since this thread was started, which was about six weeks ago. Hello.
