Parking My RX8
First of I am new to forums and this is my first post ever. I have searched everywhere online and have not found the answers to my question.
I am getting ready to leave for BMT and I will unfortunately have to park my 2004 Rx8 in my garage for about six to seven months. From my one year of owning the car I know that it is very picky about what is done to it. So what do I need to go about doing before I park it and what should I do before I bring it out of storage? |
go to the bottom of this thread. look at the "similar threads" bar. click those links.
And Welcome! |
Also look at any of the winter storage threads.
Edit : 4000 posts |
I am aware of how to properly turn the car on and off. I was just wondering if I need to do anything special before parking it for an extended period of time. For example, clear the gas out of the motor, drain the oil, just anything out of the ordinary that i wouldn't normally do before starting of turning the car off.

yes. there are things you should do. those things you mentioned are NOT things you should do.
therefore... see above advice |
Dude you don't need to do anything the fuel lines have barely any pressure. Just change the oil when you get back, and flush the coolant. Its easy.

Ok i checked out the winter storage threads, thanks for pointing them out, and I have found a lot of useful information. They are saying I should put my car on jack stands, fill tires to maximum psi, put steel wool in exhaust to keep from mice, empty a can of seafoam in gas tank and fill up, trickle charge my battery. Any opinions on these steps?

A bottle of Sta-bil is under $10. I go along with DarkBrew's recommendations. ken |
