No Test Area?

I was wondering if we could get a test area for sigs, images, etc. I really hate having to go to the RX-7 Forum to test whether my pics work. :(

If you go to the advanced-mode post, it allows you to preview your post before you submit. If you change your sig, it will change on every post. So, open up another window with an old post in it, change your sig and refresh the window that contains your old post. Then you can see what it will look like.

Does that help? If not, give me an example of what you are trying to do.

i think she ment a sub forum dedicated to testing out new sigs, avatars, or anything else that they want to test before they submit it for a real forum.

of corse, it would just take up more bandwith, which this site is alreay lacking (hint hint)

I still don't see why this would be more beneficial than the system in place. It would have to be a completely different site, sharing no connections to this site, as even on a "sub forum", the changes you make on your .sig, avatar, etc, happen site wide. In other words, it would have to be like going to the RX7 forum...

first off, i was mistaken when i said sub forum. i meant forum, like general topics or RX-8 media news. at the bottom, there could be a forum called test area or something. not seperated from rx8club.com. it would be like going into any other section of the site.

Yeah... I'm down with what you guys are saying, but there is a way to preview your posts (i.e. the preview button), which means you don't need to test somewhere to see if your post will look the way you want. You just click preview and make changes, click preview, make changes, until it looks the way you want, then click submit.

If you change your avatar or signature, it will change on every page as soon as you hit submit. So, there is no way to test your signature other than doing it and looking on another page. Therefore, a "test forum" for sigs and avatars is moot.

Again, I say, there is no point in a test forum...

hmm, i havent used the preview function, ill go check it out. in this message.

(Prepost edit): ok right now im looking at the preview function. everything is messed up. its showing my sig on the left. not such a big deal, but not the way the sig looks in reality. that wouldnt be a very good way to see if you like your new sig. of corse, i could just pick up my 20 inch cathode ray tube moniter, attach extension cords, carry it all the way to the bathroom, look at it in the mirror, bring it back, make corrections, and repeat.

well, that looks like a mighty good time.

Your sig changes IMMEDIATELY on ALL PAGES when you submit it. A preview function for it would be nice, but there is none. Once you change it in your profile, it changes on EVERY ONE OF YOUR POSTS. Therefore, I say open up another browser that has one of your old posts on it, click the submit button to change your sig, then refresh the browser with the old post. Then you are looking at your new sig. If you don't like it, change it back. Using the PREVIEW POST function on your sig is POINTLESS because it changes on EVERY SINGLE PAGE on the ENTIRE SITE that contains your sig the moment it submits. If you go READ my post at the beginning of the thread, I already suggested the same method I did in this post on how to view your sig. As stated before a test forum to test your new sig would be pointless as it changes over the ENTIRE SITE on EVERY POST YOU MADE the moment it submits (all you would need to do after it submits is go look at an older post as it will have changed on that post... there is no need to re-post just to look at your new sig). The only way to test your sig would be with a sig preview button. If you want that, talk to the vBulletin guys, as we do not write the software.

The PREVIEW POST is only good for PREVIEWING A POST, hence the title. As you have seen, the preview post button really does act like a "test forum".

This is getting pretty mundane. I've given my suggestions twice over now. Maybe someone else will field your complaints or maybe you can go back and read what I posted all the way through as I would probably end up saying the exact same thing again, just with different words.
