New edit limit has got to go.
 

Not being able to edit a post after 2 minutes is plain silly. I could see making a limit of 30 or 60 minutes but 2 minutes is way too small.

I think the whole time concept is a bit ridiculous anyway. How's that gonna work in the For Sale section? Is the thread starter gonna have to contact a mod to edit the price? :scratchhe

I don't get how editing a post could be a bad thing enough for them to get rid of it. Practical function, will be missed.

I've had more than a few people say really nasty things to me or post nasty photchops only to edit them a few minutes laster knowing the chances of them getting caught by mods is minimal. That's the only reasoning behind it I can think of. I've got a thick enough skin and can handle it moreso than not being able to edit a mistake I made in a post after 2+ minutes.

I sure hope there's better reasoning behind it than that.

yes, i highly doubt this whole fiasco is based on instances solely with you, Ike.

The one thing I love about the edit button is the fact I could correct any mistakes or typos that I could have missed. Now with that gone. We all look like horrible spellers. Yay.

phwew.....here I thought they were just harassing ME more. The reduced time to edit a post will only generate more posts. If a person cannot edit their posts, the will only create another post to correct a previous one.

When will my ability to view pictures be restored? You never told me what that was a punishment for.....will you at least tell me how long this restriction will remain?

It makes it difficult to keep the members directory updated.

Wow, who thought time limiting the edit feature would be a good idea? That's a horrible idea. What benefit is there? This really needs to be changed back. Just look at all the unhappy forum users.

In that case there should also be a posting time limit. Like when someone starts a thread you only have 5 minutes to post in it until it's closed. That makes a lot of sense and would definitely benefit this forum. :rolleyes:

there was some discussion a little bit agop that there already was a time limit. a mod asked what it was. i dont remember there being talk about a new limit. ill bring it up to the other mods.

Thanks - It makes sense to go back to the old setup. How will group buys work if you cannot update the initial group buy post? Or, how about RP being able to update his first post with the final words about the blower when it is ready?

It was a new one on me. There are several of the mods that don't like it as well. We'll see what we can do.

OK wait a minute ... our ENTIRE EVOLV-Chicago Meet thread is based on me editing the first post to keep the meets up in the first post. If this is the way it will stay, you will only force us to use another forum to keep our meets in. THAT would be very sad, as I like this forum and would really like to stay here as our home base.

Please count my vote for NOT ACCEPTABLE ... and it has nothing to do with correcting spelling errors. Please please please look into this.

I am with redshedevil (she is our leader and if we do not do as she says we are beaten) this is a stupid change. The ability to edit posts is an essential tool for many people on this forum. I don't understand the motivation for this change and it still has not been explained to us.

wtf is going on here? why on earth are the mods/admin yelling at the forum members? Please just take one second and put yourself in our shoes. I'm not targeting just you zoom, but the people in charge around here have just turned rude. I'm sick of telling new people I find on the street to come here to join up and then having to deal with a multitude of complaints from those people not wanting to be here because of the way they are treated. I DON'T GET PAID TO BE HERE EITHER.

So, if the people in charge here would just INFORM us lowly peons we might stop asking the questions.

So thank you to Ike and Jeff for the heads up. The error has been found by Omicron and corrected.

The irritation on my part comes from several peoples assumption that something nefarious was happening and users were being left in the dark on purpose. Then others egging them on. That's really low and and i take it as RUDE on your parts. Take one second and put yourselves in MY shoes. and im not targeting you RSD. Look at how rude the comments are to us. Everyone jumping ont he bandwagon of how much it sucks and how stupid we are and how you'll hate to have to pack up and leave.

next time something like this happens how about we all take a deep breath then contact each other (like IKE and MM did) and ask whats going on instead of hurling accusations around. The issue can be handled sooner without all this angst. No one is purposely trying to ruin anyones experience here. except for perhaps Razpewton's

I personally have never tried to incite any type of problem or stage a coup against the mods/admin of this site. I just have not understood why when people ask a simple question (in PM or other form) why it is taken as a slight. My role as Switzerland has obviously worn thin here, and I apologize if my posts are considered rude or somehow insinuate that you are stupid. It has never been my intent. All I've asked for are some answers to questions so that I can explain to our new members before they take a hike.

Geeez...if that's the case, why don't one of you just email me and ask me to leave? I've been trying to get some sort of discussion going for the last year concerning my relationship with the upper admins. I didn't start all this crap. It's purely reactionary, I GUARANTEE it.

I too stated (twice) that we are looking into it. It caught many of the mods by surprise as well and a bunch of us don't like it either. Just give us a chance to work it out instead of complaining about it all day and sending out accusations. That won't speed it up. It definitely wasn't something that was done to punish anyone and no one was singled out.

FWIW: Not one person has ever sent me a heads up asking me about anything. I may only be a lowly mod and not an admin but I can still look into things if someone has an issue and can't get an answer on it.

I have always responded promptly to any pm or request from you.



I am sorry if i misconstrued your statement "you will only force us to use another forum to keep our meets in" your involvement in the chicago area meets is generous and appreciated by all. I dont have nearly the involvement in my local scene and i should.
