I put a lot of effort into any help on this forum, not just random chat, but I keep losing my article because when my page says Welcome, and I submit it says I have to refresh the page, which means I lose the article. Am I a noob or what?

Yes, I don't understand the what you are seeing. Maybe being a little more descriptive and/or screenshots of the problem?

the site times out if you dont post after awhile. write long posts in word or what ever other text program you feel like using then when its ready copy and paste it in a post/new thread.

I'm just spoiled because for some reason I was permanently signed in for about a year or so until I changed the password to get in on my laptop.
