Not sure what's changed... but for the elast several weeks EVERY single post (including this one) or preview post I make causes an "instruction can't be read" IE error and then crash it closes and I have to reopen IE and start over. The posting goes through, but it's a pain to have to go back in to the forum every time.

I've got a small network of computers, they all crash on posting. Am I the only one? Can it be fixed? Thanks.

I have no problem.

Try a different browser like Mozilla and see what happens. Download, install, surf.

Sounds like you might have a virus or spyware or something on your machines.

Yes IE each time, latest rev. With a network of 6 systems, and as it's my job, I don't have viruses or spyware on them. The only site this happens on is www.rx8club.com

Now of course just to prove me wrong... on this post it didn't crash!

So 'mostly' it crashes on posting lol.

Definitely try Mozilla Firefox. I can't stand IE and have definitely not had any problems with Firefox. Try it, you may be surprised!

I've been having the same exact problem with IE for the last 3 weeks. I downloaded opera and that doesn't have the problem. Not really a solution, but a good work around. Firefox seems to be okay as well.

if i do a quick post nothing goes wrong at all.

if i go to advanced mode a post, then IE opens up and keeps opening up windows again and again and again till i close aol...

yes im using aol.

Thanks for the alternative browser recommendations guys. I'm just wanting the powers that be to realize that something has changed, be it the board sw or IE and the incompatibility needs to be addressed eventually. Of course its easy to see the board is having other 'issues' like just staying alive, so a fix may have to wait, but as IE is so pervasive, it's still important. And changing browsers is not possible in all environments, nor should it be required to do so.

Are you using Windows 98 ?
If yes, upgrade your OS.

If no, its one of your plugins. check and disable until you find the problem

Oh and yes, use Firefox or Opera whenever possible.

Latest patch ? There wasnt any recent patch that really affects the way intercepts the page codes expect for I think 1 ?and it shouldnt affect that ...

Anyway, make sure your plugins are working well and up to date.

If you are using IE, try reading the site without logging in. That seemed to work for me last time the site was having problems.
Most of my computers have Firefox installed and I use that mostly. One has that and Opera.

Not sure what you mean...not any problems reading/navigating the site... the only problem is in posting in any thread (like this one, e.g.) When I hit the submit or preview button...Bam...error. If it's the submit button the post gets posted ok, but IE crashes...if it's the preview button... of course no preview, just a crash.

That message means theres something running with IE (or IE itself) for some reason trying to write into a protected memory area , and or some memory that does not belongs to IE process.

I would suggest you to check for some unknown spyware. or maybe theres something wrong with your drivers. or Bios. could be alot of stuff.

Whoever experiencing this problem, Post your system spec out and with EXCAT error message. and I'll see if I can figure something out.

I'm trying this with IE (running in vmware). I'm doing an advanced post and all is well.

I'd check for malware on your systems - what kind of firewall/av/anti-spyware are you running? This may be an issue with Norton/McAffee, etc.

I know others have mentioned the "other" browsers and I agree - IE is old and non-compliant, it also has hooks deep in the operating system so it is great at letting malware in without your knowledge. The other browsers aren't perfect, but they are currently better.

This test worked, so the problem isn't with the site and IE, most likely it is common software on the afflicted systems....

You might try clearing your internet cache of any rx8club files. Don't know if it will help but is a simple thing to try. Go to Tool/Internet Options, General tab/settings, View files button, sort by location and delete all the rx8club.com files. You may want to try clearing cookies for the site, but you will lose any local settings saved there by the site.

Run Spybot Search & Destroy too...
Only seems to happen with advanced posts.

Glad this issue was posted, it started happening to me on my home pc Sunday night. I'll have to look more closely at the error message once I get home, but do remember there's a specific memory address that was being reported, and I think it was the same one each time. I thought it happened because I had posted something using a smiley, and was speculating something from the smiley box was interfering with IE.

I don't use Windows natively, but I did test with XP running under vmware. I had no problem.

List all the anti-spyware and anti-virus software, we may find smothing in common amongst the afflicted systems.

I'm currently on my work pc, its behind a corporate firewall of which I don't know the name/blend, and our company uses sms and maybe altiris for systems management to propogate out AV - ours is Symantec. I'm not sure where else to look to find out more of the specifics on this pc.

edit: Also -- why is rx8club the only site that is crashing? Something must be more sensitive here now. My other IE instances stay up when this one crashes too.
