Divide the NE!

In reference to the NE regional forum:

I don't think it makes geographical sense. How do you figure that, for instance, Virginia is part of the northeast? I mean, come on, during the civil war, it was the capital of the *south*! For someone up in New England (like me), Virginia or Maryland are another world away, and posts from people in that area are just of no interest to me (no offense).

I think that what would make a LOT of sense would be to split NE into a New England and a Midlantic. New England would be Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut; Midlantic would be New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. I think this division makes a LOT more sense, geographically, culturally, and meteorologically.

:smiley_12 I'd agree ... it'd give us NE'ers bit of autonomy ... and the Mid-Atlantic folks too. I wish I could get down there ... but prob never will.

I am from NYC and I would say anything above philly is the northeast below that I consider south.

SlayerRX8 04-03-2006 06:27 PM

I agree with a split.

I would like to see Canada split into provinces. I don't really care what the hippes on the west coast have to say, nor what the whinners in Quebec are doing, and the east coast, don't get me started. This would also make a lot of sense geographically, culturally, and meteorologically. Plus, then Gord wouldn't have to freak out on people who don't put locations in their posts.

Come to think of it, Toronto, since it's the centre of Canada, should be it's own subforum. We're a lot different than the hillbillies that live in rural areas. Perhaps each province could have urban and rural subforums. Then of course there are the people that live on the outskirts of Toronto. They're all fucking liberals, so they should get their own forum. I guess what I am saying is that I want my own forum.

Ha Ha Ha! I think... considering everything.. after that.. you SHOULD have your own forum... now go to your room! :spank:

Kind of reminds of a George Carlin skit where he proposes to put four degnerate groups into Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska respectively by building walls around each state. Then allow time for each group to get together by opening small parts of the wall and putting the mayhem that creates on cable TV...

The south will rise again!

Oh wait, I mean good idea. At least make subforums or something.

how about breaking it down into 3 regions:

Mid-Atlantic (VA, MD, DC, DE, WV)
Tri-State (NY, PA, NJ)
New England (ME, NH, VT, RI, MA, CT)

this setup has worked brilliantly on another forum i participate often, because it makes not only geographical sense, it also makes demographical sense.

I could see that too.

I'm closer to PA than 98% of the people in NJ -- why should DE not be included in that area? Forum members from PA have met up with people in DE because they saw one another in the NE forum. Doesn't make sense to segment the Mid-Atlantic Region like that. Otherwise I'll have to check the Tri-State one for PA (which is 5 miles from my house) and Mid-Atlantic for MD (which is 5 miles from my house). All northern Delaware people have this issue -- our state is small.

I say you do Mid-Atlantic and New England like every encyclopedia ever created.

ZoomZoomH 04-05-2006 09:47 AM

you can always browse both regions you know, it only takes one more click lol

ZoomZoomH 04-05-2006 09:51 AM

another idea is to break it down into major metropolitan areas, ie DC/Baltimore Corridor, Greater Philly, NYC, Boston, etc...

This is a great idea

Agreed, the NE needs split up, as well as the Midwest, too much clumped into one...
