Delist DLS Customs

Not sure why DLS Customs is still being listed as a Forum Vendor, since they pretty much closed up shop. :(

Shouldn't they just be taken off?

Just trying to keep things nice and tidy. :wiggle:

I think it's to remind people what can happen when you send your money to "Trusted Vendors" on the internet.
:ky: :uh:

tiggerlee 12-02-2005 11:00 PM

Most of the vendors here,at least the ones I've dealt with, are trustworthy!
Just because one "goes under" or doesn't honor it's obligations does not mean the rest can't be trusted.

BlueEyes 12-03-2005 12:48 AM

But it makes you think.

tiggerlee 12-03-2005 01:21 AM

And people should. Especially when ordering anything online.

bmcc49er 12-03-2005 11:48 AM

But we bought from a vendor that came with recommendations from members on this very board. Definitely our own fault but I won't send my money to any vendor on here now.

army_rx8 12-03-2005 11:57 AM

^not even racing beat? they've been around forever...i send them money all the time :)

Forgive me, just getting over the being burned incident. All I heard on here was how good a guy he was but from what I am reading now I guess they aren't even trying to make things right for us.

I agree I will order from the manufacturer like racing beat, but if I were to order from a vendor I always check wth the manufacturer to see if they are an authorized resaler. If not I pass and order from someone else. I have done this with some of the vendors on this site and they have gotten mad when I told them why I was not ordering after talking with them to ensure they say they had the item in stock. But I don't give out credit card #'s to anyone.

Just my opinion on shopping online.

truemagellen 12-04-2005 01:41 AM

I think people are being overly cautious...yes overly cautious

first off your credit card has its own insurance for these issues, use it it is simple if there is a problem

those with DLS customs orders FORGET paypal's BS and go straight to your Credit Card Company

besides the key here was DLS Customs was just a guy (a really nice guy actually) making these things at home who became overwhelmed with the amount of orders, he was not an established business entity with his own online secure website and more...it was a one on one transaction...the rest remaining vendors are est. businesses with business licenses, secure websites, and are just the same as going to a real life retailer like Target/Meijers/Pep Boys/Menards/whatever just a smaller operation

I have been ordering products online since around 1990 and have never once run into a problem, why? 98% paying attention to detail, 2% luck

the 2% is for certified/secured sites that just dissolve, I've never ordered from a sham site like this...so maybe I should change that 2% from luck to intuition :mdrmed:

I've ordered from many of the vendors on here...in fact I was friends with Thew before he started up www.mazdaparts.com (originally rx8garage.net) and once it took off I still think today it is a great company so much so that I help out on the site. What people don't know is when www.mazdaparts.com upgraded their website last year they went on the same security backbone that Amazon.com uses. Ever bit of information is handled off site, not on the Mazdaparts local servers which simple provide the front end. It is so secure that even Thew himself cannot access your financial data.

I want all (well most ;)) of the forum vendors to suceed because it means this Forum succeeds and will be around for a long long time supporting more and more users as RX-8 ownership grows overtime.

Enjoy your RX-8s guys and gals :ylsuper:

Gomez 12-04-2005 03:07 AM

Every single item I have purchased for my RX-8 has come from a forum vendor/Group Buy. Hymee exhaust....Hymee grille kit....Richard Paul Short Shifter....Zeta Products Console Pad....and yes, I bought strakes off DLS Customs. I never fitted them, they weren't up to scratch. I chalked that one down to experience and moved on. The very next thing I bought was Richard Paul's shifter....I got the third one made.

I will continue to purchase from forum vendors for as long as I have my RX-8. They are RX-8 enthusiasts, and they deserve our support. They support the forum....we should support them.

Jedi54 12-06-2005 06:09 PM

I am ALL about supporting our forum vendors, they've all been awesome to me. Actually, I just sent about $1,200 to one of them this morning...

Just thought we could get rid of DLS customs since that one still leaves a sour taste in some people. It sounds like he was a great guy who just unfortunately got in over his head. Lets let go of that and just leave the vendors who are still supporting our great community.

Just my $.02

Mugatu 12-06-2005 08:19 PM

if he's not doing business anymore, i don't see why this would be a problem? if anything, it causes more confusion to those not familiar with the situation and may try to do business with him...and may even try to send money!

:cussing:

No, he hasn't left members high and dry. As I've told every one of them who've come to me (see the announcement in the DLS forum, here) he's slowly filling orders, as much as his health allows. Anyone who asks me for a status via email has gotten it.

Anyway, I left the forum in place - marked CLOSED - to that people wouldn't give up hope. No one can post in it (hint, hint people - he's not a current vendor!) so that the announcement would last. If I disappear it now I'll get flooded with inquiries.

Sigh.
