Click this bar to view full image

"Click this bar to view full image"? Was this just added? It's kind of a pain to have to click every image to see it larger.

cornholio135 02-01-2013 01:59 PM

it's there to heighten you viewing expirience....lol

wcs 02-01-2013 02:40 PM

I hate it

HiFlite999 02-01-2013 07:55 PM

I like it. When someone sticks a huge pic into a thread, it makes it a PIA to read the spread out text.

wcs 02-01-2013 08:00 PM

^^^ well that's true

ASH8 02-02-2013 02:34 AM

It is good, and I hope it stays....it stops oversizing of pics and is a lot easier for viewing..

You cant seriously suggest that it is a hassle to 'click' on an image...it does apply to everyone.

Plus helps for those who have narrow-band and I guess the forum's owner server rates?..

This is still a Free Member Forum with no limits.

wcs 02-02-2013 07:55 AM

ok ok I get all that
But do we really need the stupid bar above the pic

Honestly I think most ppl would understand that the server re-sized the pic on upload and if you click it you would get the full size.
This isn't a new concept

Having to see " click the bar for full image" everywhere looks like shit

IB makes money by selling ads to the ppl that uses it's website.
We are paying by being here (our time and our eyes) so IB can sell ads for us to look at (or click).

It's probably less about helping NB users than it is another way to increase profit margins I guess but reducing bandwidth.

ASH8 02-02-2013 02:32 PM

Good you edited your post....

YOU are not paying a cent to be a member here....but you might prefer member pay to be add free!?.."value" yeah right.

altspace 02-04-2013 04:26 PM

I understand the super large photos people sometime post, but how about maybe increase the "thumbnail" just a bit more? At least to 800px and not 400px width.

alnielsen 02-04-2013 04:31 PM

The Mods & Admins have no control over this function. It was added by I.B. without our input. Maybe to save them bandwidth.

I likely would become a paying member to have the ads removed.

I have no issue with the resize just the full image bar.

Hey Al sorry if you thought i was implying the mods/ad mins did this....

Im aware that items like this are usually a business implementation decision not a forum admin function.

There is some guy from Barry that I see post every now and then we the servers die. I believe he actually is a IB employee.
Only reason I noted this is because it surprised me as he is only an hour away due north.

Nice skiing and sledding up there.

nobody at Internet Brands gives a rats ass even if it means membership and participation decreases as a result, the Apple device pop-up spam debacle is a perfect example

8 Maniac 02-05-2013 10:40 PM

Yeah... I don't mind it, I just wish it was larger for the base image. Or smaller, actually. It's almost like a tease because it's larger than just a thumbnail but not large enough for most images.

If the purpose is to eliminate the issue of oversized images skewing the screen, then set the acceptable resolution much higher and just resize the huge images.

If the purpose is to reduce bandwidth, then use a standard sized thumbnail and make it clickable without the bar at the top. Maybe something similar to when there's the attached images box at the end of a post.

This design just seems awkward, even if it saves bandwidth or prevents oversized images from skewing the page size.

On a PC/laptop/netbook installing AdBlock will eliminate all the BS

tiltmode43 03-03-2013 04:12 PM

Bump.

It sounds stupid/whiney but I absolutely detest the minimized images + ads over each image!! It makes viewing photoshoot threads stupid. No longer can you click a thread and leisurely browse. Now you must click the thread, then enlarge since an ad will be covering the thumbnail.

I'm sure my viewing of rx8club has inadvertently decreased due to this.

Yes, I understand mods/admin had zero input to this & my opinion has no real value, just venting.

[/complaining]

ShellDude 03-03-2013 04:15 PM

not a fan either... and have complained about the stupid cadillac popups that attach themselves to every friggin image too.

paimon.soror 03-03-2013 04:16 PM

so if the webmaster decided to replace all pics with a big hairy penis ... i guess we would all have to live with it huh?

this "suggestions" section is as pointless as the complaints within.

Coldwound 03-03-2013 05:00 PM

I don't like the AD's that block the photos I have to "X" out of, the click to enlarge I don't mind.

ken-x8 03-03-2013 07:05 PM

The those ads that have to be clicked off over every picture are definitely annoying. But as a cheapskate I'd rather have a free forum, so I'll live with them.

I do enjoy the idea that they seem to be mostly for Cadillacs. I doubt if this forum is really the right demographic for that, so someone is getting screwed even worse than the inconvenience of clicking them off. Schadenfreude can be sweet indeed. :)

It's not free ... that's what you sheeple don't get.

ShellDude 03-03-2013 08:44 PM

I have a silly little app I published on Google Play called "Poke Back for Facebook". Embedded within it is an admob banner and I provide a "help link" back to my website too.

On my site I have an adsense banner embedded on the Poke Back help page.

Back in December Mark Zuckerburg announced some stupid Enhanced Poke application for Facebook and my silly little app went from about 1,000 installs to 10,000 in like 10 days. Since then it's grown to 30,000+ downloads.

I generate about 3,000 impressions a day thru the app and admob.

I generate about 1,200 impressions a day thru the my little "help" webpage.

For the past two months I've got two checks each month for a little over $100 each from Google and Admob (admob is actually a division of Google).

Now imagine an army of 3,000+ unique visitors today walking a website with all the garbage we have to navigate here.

bbbaaaahhhhh

BTW, thank you to whoever made the call to switch things back!!! It seemed like soon after posting in this thread it was fixed.

This was not the issue - we all know forums are not free to operate. However, when other large forums can get by just fine without implementing what 8club had for a while, it makes one wonder.
