I guess I'm a whiner too...

It's a bit of blasphomy...
I traded my 8 in last week, for evo9...
Don't get me wrong, I love the car...it had amazing lines, handled very well(had few suspension mods) and it was just amazing car...
but evo is just in another planet after I got one myself...and I know opinions vary, but I don't think it's ugly...especially a SE trim.

I asked "So Why did I traded in...?"
I guess if I am getting 18/24 then I'd get 18/24 on 4g63...? sounded good to me. Plus I don't have 2-3g to blow on FI...getting it financed was much easier...
Also I never owned a car this fast off the lot. I wanted to experience and learn with it...this is my 1st turbo car and I think I'd be a long time owner of this car.

I know I don't say much here, but I'd stick around and learn from everyone here. I enjoy this forum very much and I wanted to say thanks to everyone and I hope to learn more from you in the future!

RX8 rocks! and this is coming from evo owner now!
thanks guys&gals!

Have fun man, post a review after you've had it for a little while. Did you end up getting TB?

fwiw, my insurance would go up about $20/month on an EVO, compared to about $75/month w/ a STI

Hey thanks everyone, I'd thought I'd get flamed out
My insurance went up about 35 a month, but I pay 140 a month with life and home insurance bundled together, so that's not too bad. I'm with statefarm.

As for the ride...wow, that's all I can say. the torque I feel after 3krpm is just unbelievable. The ride is surprisingly rough on stock, just as stiff as my lowered 8.
The interior as everyone knows....ehhh bland But that recaro seat just GLUES you onto the seat and it is very racy and very comfortable...I haven't pushed it yet since I am trying to break in, but I'll post more reviews as it progress!

Ike
I will wait till I get TB, i still only got 500 miles on them lol. Should I go do that first or ecu? I heard that just ecu tuning this car still push some amazing gains...

Thanks everyone on kind words!

By TB I meant Tarmac Black As for what to do first, I'd say get both at the same time. Get the TBE and get a reflash, maybe even a MBC at the same time, after that you can think about doing cams and various other mods if you're still not satisfied. With just exhaust, tune, and MBC at safe levels you're looking at around 330whp.

Ike-
Oh haha
yes I got the tarmac black!
The B/W(I can't spell their name...) package looks very nice, so I'll look into those!...btw what's your opinion on them?
Sunilseru-
I got 15k
but I owned 17 so it wasn't a big big hit. I managed to get 6.6 apr and am paying 489 a month, not too bad...I think.

You got a good price for a killer car. The Evo IX is really an awesome tuning package. They improved upon the VIII's tuning potential, which many thought was nearly impossible. Like Ike suggested, go with a TBE, MBC and an EcuTek flash. The whole package, including parts, installation, tuning and an hour on the dyno should cost less than $1.5k. Not bad for an extra 50awhp/60awtq.

The MIVEC is very cool but the more and more I read, the more and more I think the extra power of the '06 IX over the '05 VIII is due to the newer turbo. Maybe as much as 95% turbo and 5% MIVEC. In fact I was so convinced that I ordered an OEM 16G IX and some Helix 720cc injectors. Everything goes in on the 10th and gets tuned later that day. With my 264/272 cams, MBC @ 22psi, and 3" TBE w/a test pipe I'm hoping to be close to 325whp on pump.

That's odd. An evo is the highest risk vehicle to insure (practical cars, not including ferrari's or anything). I dont think an sti is even in the top 10.

I was debating recently on what to do since my tax preparer told me I need to lease another vehicle for my business....so I was considering a few different cars...a Cayman S...which I pretty much ruled out because I can't justify such a high lease payment...

So I've been considering cars in the 30 range again...the RX-8 tops my list (I loved my old one), but I also thought about the new GTI and the MS3...and I'd love an EVO or an STi....but I can't get over the childish looks.

My apologies to everyone, but I just don't feel that I'd be taken seriously if I pulled up to a business meeting in a bright colored rocket ship car. I just don't see that happening.

Get an '07 STI limited, they're very stealthy looking.

If you mean Buschur and Warrtalon, I'd suggest getting a package elsewhere. No because it's not a good package but because Warrtalon is a total douchebag and so is Al who does the tuning on the flash. I could show you many threads that would make you not want Al Friedman have any part in your car. Most of them are on less popular Evo forums because Evom protects him because he's a paid advertiser.

By the way, there's nothing special about that package, you can get those parts from many different places. You should get a TBE that you like the sound and looks of, then get a forge MBC, and then find a reputable local tuner to tune/flash it. It'll cost you a touch more money but you'll have a custom tune as opposed to a base map.

Follow Ike's advice or just ask that they remove the wing from your Evo or STi. My wingless '05 looks like a normal Lancer to most people.

Ah, live and learn....I appreciate your insight.
I've heard many cheap TBE available under 800$ and I have few people here that does flashes...I am a COMPLETE NOOB on turbo's so I guess I'll keep on reading and searching

Steiner-
Yeah the price wasn't bad, just the negative equity i got on my 8...which wasn't bad either, but it's still upside down...
Oh, how's the stock tires hold? They are sticky as hell, but It couldn't last long....does it?

Thanks!

The timing of your question couldn't be better. I just had a new set of Falken Azeni RT- 615's mounted and balanced about an hour ago. The stockers lasted about 12k miles. Then I bought a set of Azenis and they lasted more than 20k miles. I'm sure they could have gone another 5k-8k miles but I got a good deal and had been meaning to replace them before the rainy season.
