panic button purpose

Ok, I am in an argument right now with my roommate on the purpose of the panic button. I argue that the panic button was invented in case of an attack or stalker if you are near your car. You can press the panic button to draw attention to the scene as I think it was invented mostly for women who may be followed to their car. My roommate argues that the panic button was invented so that you can find your car in a crowded parking lot. I know this may be a dumb subject but what do you guys think the panic button was originally invented for? TIA

actually, some systems have a "panic" button, where if you hold it, the horn goes off constantly until it is turned off, or if you just press it, it beeps the horn a couple times so you can find the car

Though it is rumored among Rx8club members that Dom once tried to modify his "Panic button" into a "Show me da Boobies button" but failed. We all shed a tear that day.

My panic button on my old car would work from an insane distance. I would show people and they were amazed.

at least it's not being used like a few drunken dullards were back at my apartment complex...

I'd just gotten home from a 2 day journey, helping someone move in with me. it was roughly 2-3 am...every time I walked past these people's truck while moving stuff they'd set off their alarm, thus waking the entire complex around. the police took care of their stupidity quite handily.

Hmm i've used the panic button to find my car a few times...mall of america...Six flags...Disneyland...places like that it comes in handy....

also like to just press it to scare people who I find gawking at my car when I exit a store....oh yeah also love to push it to just check the range on the reciever......farther than any other car i've ever owned........

oh yeah I successfully completed the show me yo boobies that dom failed at....so i get da boobies...

It's not a panic button...

It is a "You're sitting on your remote alarm!"

Sad thing is it is tougher to get it to shut off because a person needs to be closer when the alarm is going off.

funny thing it was actually developed not when your panicking but to cause your girlfriend/SO to 'panic' and jump when you hit the button while he/she is walking by the car.

I would state my opinion, but my new car does not have a panic button. Only a lock, unlock, and trunk buttons on the key. Oh well.

I use mine as a "make your friends **** themselves" button. It's quite entertaining.
