Engine/Emission Recall.. no free gas?

So, I get the car back, feels better then ever, they even replaced the engine mounts due to vibrations at idle, and a pending Cat converter change, engine is ok though, Cat converter change pending letter back from mazda...

Flash + engine mounts = car feels better then ever but, i heard everyone got a free tank of gas, I didnt :\ my dealership is stingy... was the part of the recall and my dealership is making an extra $40 off me? cause i heard every1 else got gas, i didnt get crapola and I was on Empty when i got it back.. I hope they didn't jip me $40, my car was in the shop 2 FUll days, dropped it off wed right before close, all of thursday, and picked it up at on friday at 6:00 PM right at close time ... WAYYY too long for tests imo!

But hey I can't complain that much my car feels better then ever, if u haven't taken it in DO IT, its worth it!

I just ordered the RP supercat and getting that in a few days. Should I take the car in for recall before I install that? or should it be fine?

I just took mine in today. Got the tank of gas and the wash. I'll also end up with the new starter and battery, and all 4 plugs replaced, rather than only the leading plugs.

Print out those TSBs and letters in the Issued forum and make sure you get what you want from what should be provided.

I just read thru the Owner and Dealer letter's for this recall like 3 times each..there was no mention of free gas or wash. So why does everyone expect/demand this??

I forget and dont feel like finding the links (sorry lazy today), but there was letters sent out to the dealers to give us "The White Glove Treatment" , pretty much shut us up and make us happy. Free Rental of the Cx-9 or a free rental from whomeva their rental supporter is, a free car wash with detail inside and out, plus they are supposed to top off your tank. I printed all this up so when I go to whatever dealer I goto I can point it out if its not done. The dealers are getting money for this so if they dont do it for you, you just know they are going to bill Mazda for it.

Be informed is my only advice to any who read this thread, ya might be a jackass to them but thing is they are ripping you off and Mazda.

They topped off my tank, gave me free plugs but didn't do detailing - I may be able to score some free back-up parts later in the month. I wish I had known detailing was part of the trip - I would have really liked that, as we ran through dust and fog on the way! We also scored a chance to play with a DeLorean, that some guy came to trade for an 8! Mom liked it except it was much harder for her to get in and out of...but at 94 she is sucking up all the cheap thrills she can get!

When they called to tell me my car was ready, I said "Great and oh by the way did you wash it and fill the gas tank?" Service guy said "Huh?" to which I replied "Yeah, I heard a lot of dealers are doing that" He said he would ask his boss.

Lo and behold, when I arrived to pick up my car, it had been hand-washed (but not detailed) and the tank was full.

In case anyone is interested, I got the new flash and the new plugs and was told the car had passed the tests "with flying colors". It seems to run the same -- that is, great! I actually got to talk to the mechanic, who stated it was the "cleanest running" RX-8 he had seen since the recall campaign started, then added "You must drive it nice and hard", which yes in fact, I do.

Well they arent supposed to "detail" your car like a professional. More like they are alloted $20 to get your car washed inside and out.

If your dealer doesnt have a indoor carwash they are given a green light so to speak to drive your car to the local car wash and have it given the top teir cleaning job. Around here $20 will get you that top teir service, just sucks because they do a lousy *** job at drying but a killer job at vacuming. Then again they are excon's and illegals so I shouldnt expect that much right?!

I didn't get a wash or fill-up at my dealership (SESI Mazda in Ypsilanti, MI). They only replaced the leading plugs as well.

Although when I read those dealership instruction notices for the recall, it *seems* to indicate that the fill-up and wash is only required when the engine actually needs to replaced. So if everything checks out okay, they just get it back to you asap. Would be *nice* to have everything topped off though.

Brought her in with the needle on E and the fill-me-up light on, instead of topping it off the was less than a quarter in it when I got it back...friggan cheapos. Nowadays, I try not to expect anything extra from dealers.

Go almost all the way to the bottom, second to the last, posted by zoom44.

It's the second document, 4206dealerlettersubsequent.pdf. Paragraph two.

You must have adobe to launch it.

The part about the wash and gas is not on the customer letter, only on the dealer info letter...
