Side vent cover...WTF??!!

Last night my passenger side vent cover fell off!! I understand that I was driving 135mph, but plenty of people have driven that fast without losing objects! There is no structural damage or marks of any kind...just a freakin hole!

I called the dealership and they said it is covered and it will be replaced during my engine test/spark plug upgrade/flash visit on Tues. If I find out anything interesting, particularly with the vent cover, I will post it.

the side vents are held together with 6 push clips. so if you took them out before and didnt readjust the clips, they could come off, especially at those speeds...

why would you admit to driving that fast in the first place?

I haven't had them off and only have 10k on the car...it just flew off. Why would I admit to doing 135?...it was fun. I was driving to military drill and a sgt. was following me in an Altima w/3.5 and he could keep up until I gave her the juice. It was like a game, let him catch up, then leave him. I probably hit that speed 6-8 times for a minute or so each (occasional turns forced me to slow).

I know it was stupid, but I was doing this at night, on a two lane road in southern alabama. The area is known for having few officers around. Also, I made sure and wore my uniform so that if I did get pulled over, I have the "get out of ticket" clothing on. I will wear it home too.

Yes, entering Warp Speed causes our 8 to elongate at which time your vent, (being
of a lessor density then the metal surrounding it) actually shrank for a nano second and dislodged it self...

they could be more functional than they already are.... they have the potential but only if you modify the inside of the fender to make the air inlet larger

That kinda **** just makes me puke

Get over yourself already - its just a JOB like any other job. You think you're special because you're "protecting our country". Sorry to have to say something like this on 9/11 but just get real and play fair like the rest of us. You uniform is not a license to be an *******.

If getting out of an occasional ticket is a job "perk" just like various other jobs (police officers, government officials, politicians, etc.), so be it. I don't see myself as being an ahole. I didn't risk anyone else's life or property. I abused my car...just like if I was on a track.

If you have something against those who are or have served, that is your problem buddy. Go hug a ******' tree or blow a spotted owl for all I care.

Have a nice day.
