No - not about the recall. I had to turn my car into this body shop to get repainted due to some asshat egging my car.

I should have it back next week - they are respraying the roof, top part of the drivers door, and the trunk/left rear quarter panel.

All in all the bill is a little under $1K but insurance is covering most of it and on top of that this particular place has an option of giving you a free rental vs. deductible assistace (up to 500) Since I have rental insurance im going to get the deductible assistence.

I got put in (i think and 05) Toyota Camry, and after spending 5 minutes trying to go for the clutch and gear shifter i got used to it being an auto... the fact that I'm tons higher off the ground, actually have body roll (tons of it), no control over which gear I am and FWD.... ewwwww.

After I get done with this bit of trouble for my car I will deal with the recall issue.

That bites. Sorry to hear that some dumb a$$ egged your car. But props on the usage of the word asshat. It is so underused and always makes me laugh.

^^ agreed, flawless execution of the "asshat"

I hear ya about the body roll though. Was driving around 3 other people in my friends Corolla and I felt like I was going to roll the car a couple times.

I couldnt agree more. I was in your situation about 3 months ago when my 8 was in the body shop being painted from some "asshat" who decided to hit my drivers door. They gave me a Lancer, which I would have to say is much worse than a camry. It feels like your sitting on phonebooks while driving a bus. And on top of that, I had to drive it for almost 3 weeks since my insurence company didnt want to approve all the changes the body shop made to the bill. It took them an extra two weeks to finally get them to agree with the changes. Theres thread on here some place about it.

I had to have my hood repainted within a month of getting my car because some dumb truck without mudflaps flung up a huge rock and put a baseball-sized (insurance company and body shop description) dent in it and it was too deep to do paintless on since the paint was a little damaged or would have been taking it out. It's a perfect match. I can't tell there was a dent or that it was repainted. I have Winning Blue.

On my passenger side my appearance package below the rear door "looks" like it has two dents in it but there are no dents or marks of any kind on it. It's the paint itself apparently since I thoroughly inspected it under different lighting and by feeling and everything. The light just reflects kind of strangely there I guess. Nobody else seems to notice it but me, even when I point it out to them and can pinpoint the location. When I get really close to it and shine the light on it I can see a slight difference in the metallic in the paint from the rest of it that must be what is causing it.

I regularly go between my 8 and my wife’s 06 Odyssey, I feel like I’m driving a semi. My wife on the other hand gets a claustrophobic in the 8.

**GASP** You let the wife drive the 8??!! j/k

I, too, applaud your use of asshat. Saw the thread when it happened - grrrr. Any idea what the claim will do to your insurance gouging, er premium?

It should fall under comprehensive and not affect his rate. It's not like he caused an accident.

This shop was a direct referral from Hiley Mazda here in Dallas/Fort Worth - I talked to the guy at mazda and then the manager of the shop itself and they said they match everything perfectly down the the "grain" of the paint... i.e. those very subtle texture you see when you look at the perfect angle in the paint. (even though its 100% smooth to the touch)

The guy at mazda said he's taken all his family cars there for over 10 years and always been satisfied. I shall find out next week when I get it back.

and yes my rates shouldnt be affected... the insurance company is only shelling out like 350-400 dollars for this whole thing ( i still have the 500 to cover on my own from deductible)

I know your pain Toxin.

My silver 8 - after 5000 miles of ownership - was randomly keyed by a 12 year old boy trying to impress two older girls. Don't even ask...its too freaking stupid of a story.

Anyway, I just got my car back after having the side panels repainted and its absolutely perfect. Can't tell it was ever damaged by a juvenile delinquent asshat (that is a good word!)

9 days of misery without my car though.

Till now I was unaware that every day an 8 owner goes without their car that a baby angel faces a horribly savage death. But apparently it is true.

you mentioned 12 year old boy? did they catch the little piece of ****? and force his parents to pay for the damage?

As punishment I would make the little ****** go spend a week at michael jacksons house, a week of buttrape and molestation would teach him to respect others property.

LOL.

I saw the kid but I had no idea what he had done until about 30 min after the fact.

I talked to several neighbors but came up with no leads.

As punishment I would make the little ****** go spend a week at michael jacksons house, a week of buttrape and molestation would teach him to respect others property.
Man, you are a lot more lenient than I would have been had I caught the little ****.

It did leave me wondering though (in the heat of the moment), if I had seen the kid run into his parent's house, is it appropriate to key the parent's cars? I'd never do it, but what do you think: Should parents pay for their kids asshattery?

Um.. he's 12 years old.. hence to old for Michael

And going from a 8 to any rental is a hard transition. Last Rental I had was a Ford Fusion.. was like sitting in a lazEboy chair while trying to drive a boat with a way to high rear window thats to small. Just remember your getting her back and all will be good!

i think until you are 18 - parents should be 100% responsible for what their kids do.

I will admit if i ever CAUGHT someone doing something to my car... well they would need medical attention.

I dont belive in ******* with anyone vehicle, be it a piece of **** or a brand new benz or whatever. I do believe in getting even though... so just use your imagination and my general rule is wait a long long time... and make sure the damage is at least equal to or greater in value to what they did to you, oh yes and dont get caught.
