300 WHP with 60-1 + Interceptor

We did a few runs on the dyno today. We were able to get 300 whp at 7.5 psi. For some reason the wastegate wont close. I think I may need to upgrade my exhaust. On Monday he is going to run the car w/o the exhaust connected to see if there is too much back pressure. If it is indeed the exhaust, then I will be going to a single tip straight thru design. Here is the dyno graph and a pix of the turbo. It sounds crazy, I don't think I was expecting it to sound so mean.

This is nice. What side effects do this turbo have in your car?
I'm just doing some readings about the RX-8's. I have a 2nd Gen TII.& our cars have so much more power than what I've been seeing here so far.

3oohp on 2nd gens are no biggie, but im just wondering why the RX8's have such low HPs and seems 'slow'> as far as what I've read...

I'm just gathering as much info. I'm thinking about getting a new car, and I'm looking into the RX-8's & 'others'

I wish they'd put Turbo's stock on these RX-8's. - again, I'm not familiar with the RX-8's..

Thanks.

I like it, thanks for posting up your results. Makes me happy everytime I see a new custom turbo setup for the 8.

Are you worried about the placement of the ECU and Interceptor though?

LAN, I don't think making the power on the 8 is that tough. I believe it just requires a bigger initial investment. On an FC you already have the turbo and there are a bunch of little things you can do to increase the power. 8s come tuned almost to the max for N/A hp so adding exhausts and intakes and things don't really do anything. You also can't increase the factory boost

It's hard to put an exact price given the fact that I had all the Greddy stuff on the car already. This is kinda like a prototype and I'm not sure if my mechanic will make it into an available kit.

Once we figure out whats going on, we are gonna turn up the boost. The 300 hp was achieved at a low boost setting. I'm hoping to go to at least 12 psi, the motor will have no problem with that.

LOL, yeah dude, I thought my 3" turbo-back exhaust was the ****. I mean it tapers to 2.5" with the split to the mufflers. It has no cat and a resonator, but the resonator is a straight thru design.I wondering if I have to go to 3.5" piping? I'm definitely going to a single tip exaust though. I don't know, we will run the car without the exhaust and see how it goes. We'll find out Monday or Tuesday.

Yeah, I'm a bit concerned. Its not ready yet so I'm sure the placement willl be different once the keys are handed back to me

with all these turbos coming out.. that use for that one one Single tip exhaust is looking better and better... what was it.. hks's Exhaust?? i cant remember the thread name.... with more and more people going the FI root.. and needing the turbo type exhausts, that are olny a single Tip, i think a Aftermarket Rear bumper with only one slot Is going to required.. so it doesnt look dumb with an empty Slot....

also.. i have been really considering going Fi with my 8...not for a couple years, i have the borla exhaust on that.. just wondering if id have to switch out the borla if i went turbo?

I still gotta recommend the TurboXS exhaust and racepipe. Makes a HUGE difference.

Does the Turbo XS taper to less than 3" where it meets the split into the two mufflers?

Why not have a muffler shop fix the taper? just cut it out and weld in a 3" section.

Seems like a lot of trouble. Could probably sell the one he has now, and buy the turboxs for less.
