Another "new" 8 owner

Hello all!

I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a proud new owner of a slightly used 04. I've been drooling over this car since I first saw the concept pics way back when. Never honestly thought I'd be an owner, considering that I'm from Detroit (transplanted to Vegas) and am a muscle car fan.
I traded in my modified '95 formula last week (6 mpg at $3.25 a gallon was really starting to hurt), for a Ti Grey 04 AT. As far as I can tell the only options not on the car are heated leather and the 6-disc changer. I have the HID's, but no washers? I know it's an AT, and the MT is faster, but it was the only 8 on the lot and I got a really good deal (I think).
I've been lurking here for a week trying to learn as much as possibly from you. It's great to have a community to bounce questions off of, and actually get intelligent answers! So here's my questions: (don't worry, they're simple)
1) Why does everyone seem to hate silvers and greys?
2) I'm working with my local dealer about the engine replacement issue (no problems so far, but the car only has 19k on it), but do you think we will get the newer higher power engine that is on the 06 AT's, or will we get the same 198hp engine? (pure speculation, but you all seem to be more "in the know" then I am)
3) Has anyone on here put a 6port into an 04 AT? (should I post this question elsewhere?)

I am truely amazed by this car, just wish it had a little more power (but then again I'm going from a 480hp car to a 200hp car). It's a joy to drive, and I finally understand that ti's ok to go around corners at more than 20mph

Cheers

Dtown to Vegas huh? Gotta a couple of buddies making that same transition. To answer you questions:

1) Silvers are cursed by a higher percentage of accidents even though they are not the highest percentage of the market mix of colors offered on this car.

2) That is a great question and I don't think anyone else has asked it yet.

3) This kind of ties into question 2 as I don't think anyone would have paid for this conversion themselves.

480hp to 200hp is a big transition......but luckily so is 6mpg to 18mpg. Good luck with the 8.

2.) Considering the 4AT wasn't designed to handle the newer engine you'll be getting the same 4 port

agree. you won't get the 6 port unless you are up in some shady business.

Wow, thanks for the quick response.
No shady business here, I left all that back in detroit.
I love how it looks like the car is always smiling when you look at the front end. It just screams "Drive Me!".
Oh well, I was really hoping that we'd get more power with the newer engine, but I'll just have to adjust.
Does anyone know if clear side marker lenses were standard on early 04's? (mine has the black washer tank so I know it's an early one) I've seen pics with both yellow, and clear, mine has clear.
As far as mpg goes, I'm on my 2nd tank of gas, first tank netted me 13.9 mpg. Not too bad, much better than 6.

Zoom Zoom!
