RP Midpipe Question

Why would anyone want to buy the midpipe section when one has the Racing Beat Cat Back?

The RB unit comes with a 3 " midpipe.

It seems like a waste of money when one only needs the CAT.

Any justification for buying the RP pipe?

catback = pipes behind the cat. midpipe replaces the cat section completely. They are not one and the same.

why you would want it is due to the extra power you'll gain from not running a cat. Gains are minimal with NA and if you're running an aftermarket exhaust (catback), it can be really loud and annoying. Many underestimate how loud and annoying it is, which is why you'll see many "lightly used" midpipes for sale on the forum.

The RB pipe extends the length of the car and bolt up to the cat.

mid pipe bolts to the exhaust manifold to the cat back.

replaces the cat.

One thing I noticed is that in the service manual it calls the pipe between the "midpipe (cat)" and the muffler the midpipe. So in actuallity there are two midpipes but on this forum everyone called the catted pipe the midpipe.

If you want to see for yourself its on pages 167-168 in the engine specs section.

Hmmm, they might have unique names for different parts of the components, but there is physically only two - the cat/midpipe and the catback.
