Yawpower Renesis Questions

Hi everybody,

I have gotten over 2 dozen emails asking about the results of our engine dyno test. These questions all refer to the horsepower of the engine as it is configured in the RX-8.

Our testing is not a valid indication of what your motor will do in your car. We are using a fabricated exhaust system, Motec engine management computer, and fabricated intake.

Our testing is an indication of what the motor is capable of, but bears little resemblance to your RX-8.

We will post a short article when we are done, but we have many different variables to test. The testing will not be complete until the end of September.

The big question seems to be "Is the motor capable of making advertised horsepower?"

The answer is yes.

...if i was gonna guess, and i am, i'd say no: testing the mostly-stock system wouldn't really aid them with the information it would provide.

Thank you for returning Paul. :D I for one will promise to not cause you to blow any apex seals by detonation, if you know what I mean...

You give an answer to the eternally big question much like the "something wonderful" answer that was given in that movie (which had all those zillion dominos-looking thingies floating around in space....doh...what was that movie!!! Actually, I know, just wanted to see if you know...:D)

Anyway, you can expound at will now. Please...

Paul, would that be the 247 advertised horsepower or the 238 advertised horsepower? Just wanted to get clear on that one little issue (not that anyone else would care) :D

I'm sure he means the original advertised figures of 250 or 247

I wouldn't want to put words in his mouth, so hopefully he'll clear it up for us.
