I just got my Koni Yellows and I'm gonna try installing em today for the autox tomorrow. To adjust the rears, from the koni picture anyway, it looks like you have to fully compress them, then twist the shaft, then let them out again? Is this true? How do you know if you've compressed it far enough? Also, which direction is stiffer and which is softer? The directions that came with it are worthless. =)

 

the procedure to adjust them you describe is correct... you can feel it if you are doing it right... as to the stiffer softer ?

some else will have to answer that or you might try the koni web site...

It's interesting - I put the rears on 3/4s of a turn back from full stiff, but even on full stiff, it seemed like it was easier to compress them than the stock shocks...?

 

Keep in mind that you are adjusting the rebound, and not the compression. Which may explain why they weren't hard to compress.

You can feel the shaft click in when you've compressed it enough for the adjustment. IIRC, clockwise makes it stiffer.

 

Oh, interesting. So they don't have compression adjustment, just rebound? Hm.

 

One way to tell is when you turn them full stiff they will stay compressed. I set mine at 1/2 turn on the rear and they perform well in "spirited" driving. I was bouncing on the bump stops frequently prior to getting the Koni Sports. They are stiffer than stocks.

 

Yeah, on full stiff they moved maybe 1mm/second to rebound just sitting in the vice. So, I thought that seemed a little slow and let it out 2/3s of a turn from full stiff and called it good. So far, the car feels great.
