Proper Performance Decal Placement on the RX-8

I have some decals to place on the RX-8 (Racing BEat, SR Motorsports, aFe and ZEX.

I prefer a subtle look nothing that stands out right at you...I always liked seeing decals on the side of vehicles (no flames and nothing large), behind the front wheel well...but we have some vents there. Where would you suggest I place some small decals....3 inches Long and ~ 1" high on my RX-8.

I have the full appearance package. Ideas?...pictures?

I can already guess what most people are going to say about your stickers, but I am going to stay civil about it.

I have seen a handful of 8's with their decals along the front edge of both driver/passenger door. doesnt look bad as long as they are not outrageously big, and as long as their color meshes well with the color of your 8. You want them to accent, but not drown out the good looks of the 8.

Another good spot if they are short in height, but long in width, is along the bottom of your car, beneath the doors (if you have the full side skirts) or maybe you can work them in down there.

Besides that, Im at a loss. If you place them, post a pic. Goodluck!

What, that people who put vinyl on thier car are wannabe F&F pukes who think rear wings on a FF car are awesome?

I don't think your stickers are large enough to put on the side skirts. At that size I'd say put them on the suicide door window just behind the b-pillar starting from the bottom up. That will make it easier to scrape off later on and you won't have "discolored" paint underneath.

i put mine there about a year ago and just recently took them off.......i really think the stickers broke up the gorgeous lones of the 8. Now taht they are off.......it really looks classy. I had everyone at the mercedes dealership looking at me instead of car shopping!! I also put some inside on the back of my seats the bigger nicer ones....it looks good. Also, dont worry about the discoloration thing. when mine came off, there was nothing left.

Those are some nice pictures...that is the type of subtle look I am thinking of (excluding the Pokeman , ha ha).... I hate placing decals on the paint....I have always placed them on the glass before.

Anybody have pictures of the decals on the small side windows? Could you post them?

Thanks

You come on to this thread with no constructive input...drop the F-bomb, ...acting all "Lexus SC430" on the board and are surprised when someone corrects you.

You actions reflect the rice in you...you can not take the rice out of the da boy.
I would say placing decals of performance upgrades you do not have on your vehicle is Ricey, Large decals could be construed as ricey. I see plenty of M3's with subtle decals on them......not ricey..race.

"Say No"...u da one in da middle g money?...straight out of da bronx? Youz can detail meeze exhausts tips.. I like 'em extra shiney like da bling...and I dropz you a hundred with a small face. Peace out.

kind of a silly question really, just pick a place you like and be done with it. If you like the way it looks, who gives a rat's **** what other people think.

I know it is hard to see...but I do have Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development on my rear door glass. I do receive discounts on their parts...and think the decal looks nice.

I also auto x my car and am looking into designing some stuff on that static cling material so I can add/remove the graphics just for race day. Magnets tend to be expensive.

I'm in-line with kwescott. I think decals are fine if you're in a car show/meet, or track days, but for daily driving, that's just free advertising. People take them off after those events.

But if you insist on going decals, get something subtle. Lettering color that looks like a shadow or ghost would be nice (ex. gray car, silver lettering; black car gray lettering). Hope that was constructive enough.

All paints fade under the sun over time. Red fades the quickest, black the slowest but even black does "fade" given enough years. Put vinyl on top of the paint and after enough time the exposed paint around the vinyl will fade to the point where you can see a ghost outline after removing the vinyl.

Can always put it under the hood, and show the stickers when the hood is up.
