Subaru legacy gt routinely dyno at 193 whp, how does that stack up against the RX8? my brother has a 05 legacy gt stock and talk a lot of smack against rx8. he said he has smoked tons of rx8 already. please give me some input before i go race him (or not). I have a 05 rx8 6speed, RP supercat, Revi intake, borla exhaust, updated ecu flash....and waiting on the CZ unit.

0-60/ 1/4 mi? The 2004- 2007 Legacy GT is faster.

 

he has a 5 speed model. on the paper 0-60, 1/4 mile is similar...but that's on the paper (C/D source).

 

If it's a manual and your brother can drive you're toast.

Also, I don't know where you got that 193 number, it all depends on the dyno and that's a bit on the low side. A stock Legacy GT would dyno about around 20whp higher than the RX-8.

 

stock legacy dyno at ~192whp....(read the blue line), the highest stock dyno is 199whp (from their own legacygt.com)

Uhhh, plenty of Legacvy GTs have dynoed over 200whp, and 192 on a Mustang Dyno is much better than an RX-8.

 

im just to see how close it is.......plenty of legacy gt dyno OVER 200 whp...you mean like 201-202whp (yes, on dynojet)....how is that so much that he will "smoke" rx8?

 

It won't be a bad beating, but a beating none the less. That is if he can drive and you race from a dig. Race him on a hot day and go from a roll and you might be able to edge edge him out, but that's not really playing fair

 

he wants to race on the freeway, since he doenst want to "waste his clutch"

so what's playing fair? i personally think race from a dig (0-60) hardly depicts what a car can do. for example, evo MR has 0-60 faster than c55amg, but from 5-60mph, c55 is almost 1 seconds faster and will smoke it to 120mph (~7 seconds faster)

 

Your brother is silly for giving up that advantage so I hope you beat him. Launching a AWD turbo car is an absolute blast and your brother is missing out. I launched my WRX at least a few times a week and never had a single problem. I'm also not talking about racing 0-60, you two should find a local drag strip and have at it.

Just go and have fun safely, personally I knew a few turbo 8 that still lose to some other cars which it should have smoked.

Like Ike was saying... on the highway (from a roll)... you have a chance... stock vs stock. If he's got any mods... particularly if he's gone Stage 2... you won't be have a chance without FI or N20.
