Best all summer tires?

Well i've been reading through every tire test article I could ...i've searched the forums....and i've read all the reviews....and yet I still cannot pick a single set of tires over another...

so quick question...with money being no option...what would be the best trackable tires as far as grip goes and performance to the general masses out here.........and I don't care about road noise or tread life......... just want to know best size and tire for the performance....on oem wheels.........

also I understand their won't be a general consensus but maybe there will be a tire mentioned here that I missed earlier

Ditto that. Tried them on my friend's NSX, they felt like semi-slick to me. He had S-03s and PS2 on his NSX before, and I tried them as well - AD07s are the best in terms of grip and overall balance.

the only have the stock size for now. I don't know if they will bring the 245's in.

If you want more grip....if you want a variety of sizes to fit any wheel... Falken RT-615s will get you there.

My four 275/35-18s on 9.5x18 wheels will walk away from ADVANS in anything close to stock size on track..... there is +- ~50% more tread in contact with the pavement. It's simple physics - the dif from stockish grip is night and day. Plus lateral control and composure exiting turns under WOT track situations is phenomenal. Virtually point and shoot. The 275s are 10" wide at the contact point. The rubber becomes near R-Compound sticky under track tire heat conditions.

And as for OEM wheels ... I had the 235/40s Falkens last year, and it was an excellent combination, significantly better than the RE040s, but they don't hold a candle to what I've got now... so if you are a serious track junkie you should consider the benefit of a wheel upgrade....

Spin, what is the weight difference from your setup last year to this year on the wheels and tires? Also, which Enkei's did you get? RPF-01? RPM2?

And I hate you for 1 upping me on the wheels btw

Both the old 235s Falkens on OEM wheels and new 275s on Enkei's weigh exactly the same 47lbs, and one lb less than RE040s on OEMs.

Hey, you got coilovers, I got contact patch, may the best mods rule NHIS!

Hehe, let the battle royale begin. I love this because we went about our mods very differently. It will be interesting to see the difference. Although my CZ is running like poopoo right now. Need to tune.

Looks like I might be able to make the SCDA @ NHIS on May 30th.

Hey Spin, what's the handling differences for 275s compared to the stock 225s or even the 245s. I know the overall grip is higher, but I'm wondering about turn-in, steering feel, and steering effort. Thanks.

LionZoo, I've only got one track day on them, but my impression is turn-in is without drama, steering feel is great with a tad more effort, very direct. Little tire squeal, almost none in fact, compared to 235s I had. Overall this easy to drive car is a lot smoother and quicker now, w/seemingly effortless handling levels.

Thanks! That was certainly one of the fastest responses I've ever received on a forum. By the way, did you do anything special to prevent rubbing? If anyone else has 275s, can you please chime in with your opinion?

I don't have a RX-8 yet, but when I get it I am considering putting on 275s on 9.5" width Enkei RP-F1s. The other options are 245/255s on an undecided 8.5/9" wheel (probably the WedsSport TC-005s or the new Kosei K3s). I guess right now, I'm just weighing my options.
