idle rough and a few other ?'S

When sitting still I noticed that my car idle a little rough, this normal. Also i've been reading around the last couple weeks since i just bought my rx-8 about 3 weeks ago and kinda learned manual lol. So tell me if i'm wrong, but if i where to buy a intake or exhaust for the car it would be mostly for sound and not for hp??? i'd like to hit 14 flat with the factory warrenty but maybe i'll have to wait if this is the case.....

Yes and yes.
The RX8 idle stock is a bit rought as the idle speed is low. Some have tried to adjust it but it is currently impossible (to my knowledge).

A way that has been found to correct this issue is to adjust the AF ratio to run more rich at idle (im not exactly sure about this).

On the parts such as Intake and exhaust, you are right. They currently do not provide extreamly significant gains, besides the very cool sounds.

You might want to check this thread out first...

BTW, why would you want anything only for sound? I like the way the Rx-8 doesn't sound too "ricey", so when you pull up along side someone they don't immediately want to race you. Much better to have a sleeper performance car than a flashy sounding fart-can-mobile that can't hold its own in straight-line acceleration.

the idle is a bit irregular, but should be smooth. Your car shouldn't shake or anything like that. If it is, your motor mounts could be bad.

So what is the normal (official) rpm for the idle speed? Mine seems to idle at a little higher rpm than other cars.
