I just saw a Phantom Blue RX8 and it is HOT! If you ever owned a Montego Blue RX7 it is *very* similar. Mazda's site makes it look teal, but it is very blue.

I stopped at a Honda dealer today hoping to take a new SI for a testdrive... That didn't go so well, they claimed that they are soldout throughout the US til June. There happened to be a Mazda dealer next door so I drove through the lot on my way out and they had a Phantom Blue in the back lot as well as a white shinka. It looked nice but my thoughts were that it looked too teal, was lighter and more sparkly than Montego blue until you got really close to it and looked at it from certain angles. It was a sunny day here, how about where you were? Cool color, but not for a sportscar IMO.

Also, the shinka interior was too washed out with the white.

 

It was cloudy (imagine that in Seattle) today, so that's probably why it looked dark to me.

I still like the Strato Blue more.

 

Yeah, once I got close it darkened up as well but when I was a little ways away with the sun shining it was very teal.

 

What dealer had that car? I just bought my RX-8 (red), but I thought the Phantom Blue wasn't available in the US. Had I known, maybe I would have waited... but man, no matter what the color, the car kicks

 

to be honest i haven't seen a single 2006 model yet. I want to see one! see how different it is....

 

The dealership where I got mine at has a Phantom Blue. It depends a lot on the lighting whether or not the color looks good.

There aren't significant differences in the 06's. I have one. The seats are fully leather now instead of that plastic back and sides. There is no ribbing on the leather. The brake calipers are painted silver now. They have a transmitter "key" now and a keyless igition on the GT models. The silver accents inside the car are more shiny now. Other than that, there is not much difference.

 

what do the keys look like? i heard that it has remote start does yours?

 

It has keyless but not remote on the GT package. Here's what it looks like. It's just slightly larger and thicker than a credit card.

 

wow those keys are nice! !!!! well i'm happy for you bunnygirl, have fun driving that thing!

 

The bad thing about those keys is that they cost over $600 a piece if they need replacing!

I test drove both an 05 and 06 last weekend and the 06 has a different exhaust note and also seems to have a slightly stiffer suspension. Anyone else experience this?

 

I just bought a 2006 Phantom Blue RX8--my dream car...she is definately hot. The color is somewhat irredescent...it will play tricks on your eyes. I wasn't planning on settling for anything less. I only have one picture but more can follow if you're interested
